HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Lawrie is probably the type of guy who takes your bench and does sitting dumbbell curls in the squat rack while taking 10 minute rests.
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 based on his instagram, he is very annoying
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 based on his instagram, he is very annoying Just as obnoxious as Stroman
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Analysis for Jays signing Lawrie Pros Possibly average bat, with below average defense Cons Lots of useless media attention Casual fans calling for Lawrie to be in the lineup Lawrie throwing a hissie fit on the bench when he isn't in the lineup. Lawrie being behind Barney on the depth chart, considering Barney is a Gold Glove winning 2B, and Travis can hit. Yeah great idea, lets sign him.
intrigid Verified Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 In theory I don't mind him, I just wish he was someone else.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 based on his instagram, he is very annoying Based on everything about him, he is very annoying.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Based on everything about him, he is very annoying. You can tell he's the kind of guy, who has to announce that he's gonna get some bottles at the club. He can't just say drinks, because he has to let everyone know what a big player he is.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Am I the only one that likes this idea? If you can pick him up cheap he's an extremely solid backup infielder that can be used in a pinch when any of JD, Tulo, Travis get hurt.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 God he's the epitome of a douche bag... Every team had them. The Jays have Stroman and to some extent JD. The difference is the guys above deliver above their douche-WAR. Lawrie does not.
intrigid Verified Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Lawrie is worth about -1.5 DAR per season. Stro/Donaldson are maybe -0.2 or -0.3.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Lawrie is worth about -1.5 DAR per season. Stro/Donaldson are maybe -0.2 or -0.3. How do you model Douche WAR?? Do you believe that the Douche only effects himself?? Like Lawrie is 3 WAR talent, but because of his doucheness he only gets 1?? Or is it subtle. Like everyone one team loses .1 WAR, you wouldn't notice it, but it would add up over the entire team.
justafan Verified Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 A woman on roids? I've heard Lawrie is a changed man.
PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Remember when Lawrie got traded to Oakland that he blamed the Astro turf on his overall success regarding wear and tear on his body and he fully expected to blossom to an elite level baseball player now that he is away from Rigers centre. How did that make out for you douche bag! Making statements like that is why he was traded to begin with just all about himself first and not a team player. Remember no love loss when he got traded from the club hous.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I have a Brett Lawrie jersey, so at least it would become relevant again. Bring him home!

Douche-WAR is never subtle. Douche does wear off on other players. It measurable off the field as well.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 If Lawrie can start taking baseball seriously, he has the talent to be a Logan Forsythe imo. But that's a huge if for Lawrie. If he doesn't he'll carve out a decent career as an average starter on crappy teams.

closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 meh... i kinda like Lawrie and if he stays healthy he could be valuable utility... if he learns to play D at 2B and maybe SS. Those are pretty big ifs.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Every one of these people trashing Lawrie over the past two pages would run over their grandmother to have a life like his. A bunch of salty motherf***ers who can't stand Lawrie because he reminds of them all of the guys who bullied the s*** out of them at school while they were poindexters (or still are in some cases). Absolutely nothing wrong with having Lawrie on this team. The comparison to Barney is laughably inadequate. Goins or Smoak are the ones he would battle on the depth chart.

Lawrie reminds you of a bully? If anything he reminds me more of a class clown.

Lawrie reminds me of a gifted athlete, an upstanding citizen and a perfect role model for children. I'm saying Lawrie might remind others of their bully in their youth.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 and why would Lawrie remind others of a bully? Where is the connection? He's the guy that constantly made jokes at your expense. f*** the girls that you jerked off to at night. I can see the connection. He's basically the dumb jock in every teen movie.

Barney's ahead of Goins bro, or are you saying otherwise? Anyhow, Lawrie would be a nice sign.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Barney's ahead of Goins bro, or are you saying otherwise? Anyhow, Lawrie would be a nice sign. Yes of course. For clarity I'm saying if Barney is #23 on this roster and Smoak, Goins and Carrera are #24/25, Lawrie is thrown into the mix at #24/25 not #23. Well, unless he proves otherwise which he is completely capable of doing so.

AGL_91 Verified Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 I had high hopes for Lawrie and remember his first west coast trip and the hype it created. However we need to move on. He isn't a team player and isn't good enough to make up for it
