How do you think Aaron Sanchez will perform going into the season? He is coming off of a year where he pitched 7.5 K/9 , 3 BB/9 and 3.00 ERA (3.55 FIP/ 3.75 xFIP). 3.9 fWAR in 192 innings. Steamer for 2017 projects him as 7.6 K/9, 3.5 BB/9 and 4.00 FIP, and 3 WAR in 200 innings.

Don't think this will be much of a poll as I assume most will choose 3 or 4 but here you go Jimmy

Step forward step backward was better!

If 3.5 were an option, that's where I'd be.

I will sat though if he can use something other than his sinker for reliable Ks, it's could easily be 5.

If you think he has the inherent skill of manipulating contact quality, then he was a 5 win pitcher last year.

And that's a reasonable opinion to have given his extreme GB skillset.

I really don't think Aaron Sanchez' mechanics are built to last, so I'll just enjoy his emergence while it lasts and then not be surprised when his arm explodes.

I think he's going to have a big year. I see his K/9 total going up to the 8.5-9.2 range with an increased usage of the high 4SM and improvement on the CH. I'm going to go out on a limb and say I think he approaches a 5 WAR season this year.

- I am hesitant to care about the methods used in that article, at all

- Regardless, it shows essentially average contact management by Sanchez: A great balls-in-play profile but lots of hard contact

Yeah his balls in play is great because of the groundballs but the way you made it sound was he has an ability to induce weak contact, which I think the article shows is false. He certainly is a great fit for the team given the ballpark and the infield defense.

i've always been a Sanchez fan, but there was something about his last start against Boston when they really needed it and he killed it and then performed in the playoffs too. I think he just continues to get better and uses his secondary pitches more often and more effectively to be even better than last year.

Chee I though by now Shapiro would have this team crawling with all sorts of pitching talent far greater than Sanchez

When are we going to start seeing some Dividends on hiring him for President, or is he going to ride the coattails of AAs players his entire presidency?

I'm going to take one for the team here and provide a little balance. Remember what happened to Stroman the instant everyone on here was converted into believing he was an Ace?
