Really hoping we can catch the O's and put them in the cellar of the AL East. Fwiw we could even finish 3rd.

 

I'd rather have a higher draft pick than the O's. Pushing them out of the playoff race was enough for me.

Again, we are going to be around the 10th-15th spot. It doesn't really matter at this point. Seeing the O's in last and the O's Hangout meltdown is worth a few draft pick spots imo.

I never look at average. I looked at his 73 wRC+, 5.4% walk rate and 0 SBs and threw up in my mouth a little.

 

And Urena's hot streak is over...

Yep - that's what I said. I'm just saying we can stop talking about him like he has a chance to make the team next year. He's a 21 year old who posted a wRC+ of 73 in over 500 PA's in AA this year. He came up and the BABIP gods graced him with a hot start. He's fallen back to earth.

Twits on the radio. I was just saying his BABIP has deflated and he's back to being the awful hitter he has been every since leaving A+ ball. Get off my back.

Urena is a fringe prospect. Other than a bit more power than is typical for SS, he has no elite tools. A realistic projection for him is Ryan Goins with a bit more power.

So, the Jays are going to finish first in AL attendance to go along with a last place finish. Payroll has to go up...doesn't it? I'd like to imagine they lead the TV ratings by a land slide. What now?

The Yankees will probably finish ahead of us, but we should be second (and led last year). The TV ratings are probably down quite a bit this year, and the team has some other expenditures like starting the new spring training complex. The Canadian dollar is looking stronger however, which probably offsets the facility. We don't get nearly the revenue per viewer that big cities in the states do for TV viewership also.

 

I would expect the payroll to hold steady or go down a little (be at where we were last year before signing Bautista).

I don't know that I agree with that last part. Getting payroll off the books and not using it for next year would be indicative of a team going into a rebuild and getting ready to plug in prospects as positions open up. If this team is seriously taking one more shot next year, then they'll have to get at least a mid rotation starter and a decent LFer. If they do that, they may have a shot at a WC spot even with a shaky middle infield, but it means payroll likely needs to be bumped up a bit.
