Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 It's 2017, bro! Just because it's 2017 that doesn't mean you're not allowed to dislike things anymore. I like piercings on women, cause I think it looks hot. I don't have any piercings cause it's not my thing. I dislike people that pronounce it car-ml, instead of ca-ra-mel... And I'm allowed to dislike them.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Men should not have piercings anywhere besides their ears. I think it's silly period (same with tattoos). But as long as people don't care that I like my earlobes as they are, and skin as it is, I don't care if they want to poke holes in theirs.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Men should not have piercings anywhere besides their ears. Holy hell, man. Are you a real person?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Holy hell, man. Are you a real person? lol what are you offended?
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 lol what are you offended? I'm not offended. But why are you so closed-minded about this? What others do to or with their own body is a) irrelevant, and none of your concern. It's an odd opinion to have. Are you, like, 80 years old? Them damn little jaspers and their body piercings.

No need to go all SJW. Personally I don't give a s*** what anyone does each is to their own. IMO nip piercings look ridiculous.

wk680 Verified Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I wouldn't be surprised to see us adding someone like Gordon with a few years of control, where the other team are looking to save salary. One benefit of the previous 2 seasons of winning baseball is the increased payroll flexibility to add salary when required. Yeah if the Jays don't have to give up any top prospects to get Gordon, he seems like a logical pick up if they intend on remaining competitive throughout the next few years. The rumors were that, as you indicated, this is a move for the Marlins to shed some salary and might not require much in return if the Jays take on the full salary commitment (10.5, 13, 13.5M in years 2018-2020 with team option for 14M in 2021 (1M buyout) which vests if he gets 600 PA in 2020 or 1200 PA combined in 2019-20). He is on pace for 3 WAR this season, so if he can provide 2 WAR per season moving forward that wouldn't be such a money burn. Also he is a pretty good defender, so that helps. But having that legitimate speed guy in the lineup would be a huge boost to this Jays offense. He could be exactly the kind of offensive spark plug they have been sorely lacking. I think I'd prefer Josh Harrison as a trade option. Can play 2b, 3b, and the outfield. If they decide to trade JD, then they can slide Harrison over to 3B to fill that spot, and then slide him back to 2B when Travis misses most of 2018 with an injury. I agree Harrison is an attractive target with the positional flexibility His salary is a little less than Gordon and he is a better hitter although without the disruptive speed of a Gordon. Talk is the Pirates want to try to remain competitive rather than any kind of rebuild, so they probably will have a high asking price in a Harrison trade. ETA: I wonder how Devon Travis would do in left field?
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I really hope the team isn't serious about Gordon. Not into a 3/38 commitment for the 30-32 seasons of a guy whose game is 100% legs.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Thing about Gordon is he could go Ben Revere at any time. I don't really want a guy who relies on his speed after he's 30.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Not interested in Gordon unless we are getting prospects back a la Liriano.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Yeah take back his entire salary but get young players back as well. That's really the only way.

He could go Ben Revere. But then there is Jarrod Dyson (about to turn 33) who a lot of people on this forum wanted. Of course it's the 3 year commitment that is problematic. I suppose you could get the speed in a much cheaper player and hopefully one with solid D and some positional flexibility which Gordon does not provide (the flexibility).

Rajai Davis's speed never disappeared either. However, there are always expections to the rules. In general - don't pay for leg only guys in their 30's.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Man, no baseball for 4 days really sucks.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Man, no baseball for 4 days really sucks. Yup, it's the loneliest point of the summer. Especially if you're not a fan of the All-Star game (I went fishing last night).
