z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 2 singles in 59 AB's for our backup catchers this year. Wow. sounds like Martin to start the year
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Over for who? The Central might be interesting with a strong Cards team and the Cubs house of cards wavering a bit. I expect the Dodgers to overtake the Rockies in the West, but the Rox could still make some noise in the WC. Who knows what the Mets will do? I was obviously being facetious given that these projections suggest that three teams have a greater than 90% chance of making the playoffs and half the NL is already under a 10% shot. Perhaps the admin needs to add a category under the thanked posts line item that displays level of autism in each poster so I know exactly how literal I have to be when posting.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Jays are up to a 27.3% chance of making the playoffs now. Passing Detroit. Next to knock off is Baltimore then the Jays hit the top 5
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 sounds like Martin to start the year Martin was hitting bullets right at people though.
TholesWeirdEye Verified Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I was about to get my Jay's neck tattoo covered up, but the weekend series sweep changed that plan!
Caper Verified Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I can't believe that team is winning with that lineup they are throwing out there.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I can't believe that team is winning with that lineup they are throwing out there. Over performing players (stepping up) Pillar, Smoak, Barney, Zeke looks good. I would take the good times as they come because my guess is not all are going to continue to rake.... Odds are a couple are going to fall off the rails at some point. Also does not hurt that we were facing a team whose rotation is a walking dumpster fire.

Its really been the pitching staff, they've done a marvelous job so far (Liriano control issues not withstanding). This team really needs it's studs to get healthy if they want any kind of sustained success though
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Bartolo Colon is having a "released and forced into retirement" type season Hopefully we can score in bunches tonight

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 which is sad really, hes a fun player. Agreed Always been a fan Wanted us to sign him a few years back But I want the Jays to win more than I want him to salvage his season

Gary Verified Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Bartolo Colon is having a "released and forced into retirement" type season Hopefully we can score in bunches tonight It was only a matter of time before his age and weight caught up to him. Lets just hope he's not released prior to tonight's game!

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 yuck no thanks I can't run with the big dogs Looks like 1 more AB for him in the 9th thanks to the jays getting a few on base in the 7th. 1 more shot at having his stupidity bailed out
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 When does JP Howell get DFA'd? He's been a complete waste of a roster spot and its obvious he can't get anyone out at the Major League level. Atkins roster management has been skeptical so far. They need another position player on the team.

You can't just DFA him he's making 3 million and has barely pitched. He needs to be used as an extreme loogy. Randy Choate level s***.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Goins had trade suitors at the start of the season. Colorado has Story hurt (and playing terrible before his DL visit) and all those GB pitchers. Valaika is not the player we are currently seeing and isn't a legit SS (he was barely even playing there in the minors). Hoffman appears to be ready, Jon Gray is coming back. Is there a pitcher you could trade for from them that is an emergency spot starter/middle reliever. Jordan Lyles doesn't do it for me but I think the Rockies are a fit for a move right now.

I still can't wrap my head around an out-of-options Goins having trade value.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I still can't wrap my head around an out-of-options Goins having trade value. I have to believe that the stories were true though. Just DFA'ing him seems to make no sense if there were people interested. It's likely going to be for a DFA candidate pitcher but maybe we can add to the deal and get someone with options and upside.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Chris Rusin seems like a perfectly cromulent swingman He seems to effective to be included but he does fit perfectly. He's the third lefty in their pen now and probably #8 on their starting rotation. Worth asking about.

Their system is so barren - pitching depth is nonexistent even at the upper levels in the form of MiLB veterans. Seems like it would be Rusin, Lyles, or bust.

That's the extent of what else could help this year.
