mellowgold Verified Member Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 This made me take a look at Morneau's stats...WTF happened to him in 2010?? I don't really remember him being THAT good. 4.9 WAR in exactly half a season's worth of baseball?? wRC+ over 180??
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 And, also, a number of guys putting up the big numbers in 2006 were fricken DHs, like Ortiz, Thomas and Hafner. I'm not voting a DH for MVP. Really, the guy who had the biggest gripe was probably Jeter, and there's little reason to feel sorry for him as, for a career, he got his butt kissed more than anyone. Jeter is interesting, he got so overrated by the media that he's almost underrated by fans now. I've heard people call him "bad" or "worst defender", and a lot of "Not a Hall of Famer". It's an interesting narrative on him.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Jeter and his future gift basket. How lovely. I hate how Jeter is even included. How much money is he even putting in? 2%? But yeah, "Jeter's group." Derek Jeter can f*** off

Definitely a hall of famer but not a slam dunk first ballot type a la Bonds or Edgar Martinez. Oh wait
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Matt Cain has announced that he's retiring Dude sure cashed in on a few very good years Funny because his career value on the open market was worth $183 Million which is still more than he earned in salary over his career.

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Carrasco just struck out his 14th batter of the game in the 9th inning to hit 200 IP on the season. Left to a standing O it got LOUD. These fans know baseball. Met so many cool people here.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2017 Author Posted September 28, 2017 Twins lost 103 games last year This year they make a wildcard spot It's nice for the fans, but the AL Wild Card was a race from the bottom. 83 wins to secure a postseason appearance is laughable. The only team that was threatening them is currently under .500. I hope the Twins get shown the door immediately.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Jack #58 for Stanton. And Judge hit #50.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Glasnow with 5 walks in relief. It's gotta be mental at this point, given how dominant he was in AAA.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 And then #59 a short while after that. 4th hardest hit ball in statcast history http://mlb.mlb.com/r/article?ymd=20170928&content_id=256618102&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb 3 games to hit number 60...damn. And against the Phillies. 61 isn't even out of the question. That would rock.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Nothing left to play for in the American League this weekend.. Every spot is already clinched and etched in stone Pumped for the wildcard game and ALDS though

Every spot is already clinched and etched in stone Pumped for the wildcard game and ALDS though Not entirely true. If the Yanks win out and the Sox lose out the remaining three games, they'd have to do a one-gamer to decide the division! Not likely, but would be hilarious. Shame the Yanks would have to do it against the Jays though since I still want to see the O's faceplant themselves into the cellar by the end of Sunday.

The AL has four great teams, and The Twins are the only team not in those four that was over .500 this year. That's awful. The whole league was trash.
