glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 So if that's the price of a rental the Jays are getting s*** all. Not even sure Bautista would get salary relief at this point. Was any team going to trade a good prospect for Bautista anyway? He makes $18mm, average at best offensively now, bad base runner, bad defence, bad reputation around the league (whether we like it or not). Not exactly desirable. Estrada and Liriano s***ing the bed hurts a lot more.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Sounds like Frazier is on his way out of Chicago Yup, pulled from the line-up and was hugging team-mates. Likely the Bosox.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Devers?... Please Dave is dumn but not that dumn
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Frazier, Robertson, and Kahnle go to the Yankees. I'm intrigued to see who goes back. The Yankees have a lot of depth.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 I really want to see what the sox got from the yankees.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 With 13 days until the deadline how do the Tigers pull the trigger on that deal. My goodness just awful. Take it down to the wire. Just goes to show you why you should trade players with another year of control instead of waiting until their final year.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 I hope the Yankees gave up a lot because this trade doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for them. Frazier is barely an improvement over Headley if he's playing third, and a terrible option if he's playing first, and the Yankees already have one of the best bullpens in the league so adding two - albeit excellent - relievers is overkill and is going to experience diminished returns.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 So the D'Backs basically get JD Martinez for free?
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 So the D'Backs basically get JD Martinez for free? I can't, for the life of me, understand this trade. Even as a rental player, there's just no way the Tigers should have accepted anything less than a return involving at least one - if not two - truly impact prospect(s) for JD Martinez. Al Avila is dumn.

Agreed, 100%. Don't get it at all.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Pretty much that is a horrendous trade with 13 days left. That's a horrendous trade anytime. I don't get it.

Frazier is sporting like a .210 babip, whIle, posting really good contact, walk and K rates. And even his pedestrian line is an improvement from what the Yankees have received from their 1b this season. Frazier could be a monster in the second half if his babip regressed to his career avg.

He also did that last year. I think he decided to completely sell out for power which raised his IFBB rate a ton. I agree that he's likely suffered from bad luck, but projections have him settling in around a .260 BABIP while providing basically the exact same offensive output.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 The timing of this article by Jeff Sullivan from earlier today is impeccable: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-w...or-trade-chip/
Ray Verified Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 White Sox over the past week have added Eloy Jimanez, Dylan Cease, and Blake Rutherford to a farm that already included Yoan Moncada, Michael Kopech, and Luis Robert. Pretty insane.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 7 in the top 36 is a bit of a reach, but it's just 1 list
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Seems like a pretty light package from the Yanks. So far 2 of the 3 deadline deals have really favoured the buyers.
