Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Springer wore mic during ASG to set example for stutterers https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1332722-springer-wore-mic-during-asg-to-set-example-for-stutterers Makes it easy to cheer for him Man - this hits home for me. I developed a stuttering problem in like Grade 5 or 6. I don't remember exactly when I managed to overcome it, but it was probably Grade 10 or something. It was an AWFUL time in my life. It's actually just recently came back to a small extent (on words that start with a particular letter - it's really odd). It was incredible hard for me as a teenager.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Pretty good haul for the White Sox isn't it? That seems like a great haul. What a farm system they have now man. In 2-3 years - look out.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Quintana is really good, 28, and has 1.5 years of guaranteed control left plus two cheap options. He hasn't been as good this season as he was previously but that could change. The White Sox have rebuilt pretty well. THe Jays don't have anywhere near the amount of assets as they did (Sale, Eaton, Quintana) so I doubt the Jays could do something similar even if they wanted to.
sdyment Verified Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Right now, between Cueto, Gray and Happ, I think we're looking at a pretty good haul ourselves. Anybody got the Astros number?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Pitcher in his prime who averaged 5 War prior 3 years. s***** Gonna be 5 war this year? Nope...on pace for less than 2 lol
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Gonna be 5 war this year? Nope...on pace for less than 2 lol He's already at 2 lol. Where are you getting your numbers from..
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 As per MLBTR, Cubs get Quintana. Does this help set the price for Happ and to a lesser extent, Estrada and Liriano. One of the top SP targets off the market. Good for business https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/cubs-acquire-jose-quintana.html Quite a bit better pitcher with more years of control.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 He's already at 2 lol. Where are you getting your numbers from.. Thought it was BR...anyway his other stats are terrible to be giving up that haul imo
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 That's a haul wow good for the White Sox. Wonder how the move is going to affect Quintana and his family.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 As a Jays fan I'd take that deal for Stroman.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 If they all reached ceiling it would be insane. Lopez Kopech Giolito Cease Burdi Fulmer Adams Hansen They also might shatter records for most walks...or have the most dominant bullpen
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 As a Jays fan I'd take that deal for Stroman. I don't think I would, it would be tempting though. Depends on the direction we are going and when we plan to contend...our high A team might be the best ever right now though if we got that lol
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 As a Jays fan I'd take that deal for Sanchez. fify
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 This trade came seemingly out of nowhere. I didn't even read or hear a peep about it. I'm fairly surprised the Cubs dealt Jimenez, though they're getting a pretty damn good pitcher in return. Eloy and Cease + is a really nice haul for the Sox. What a farm they've assembled, mostly via recent trades.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 fify Obviously.. but Sanchez doesn't have that much value right now being hurt with a chronic blister issue.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Damn they got a great return. If only Estrada and Liriano weren't s***ing the bed this year we could of got something for them, although this somewhat sets the market for Happ who has 1 year left on a pretty good deal.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Arrieta Lester Quintana On paper that's a VERY nice top 3 and would be a solid post season rotation However, Cubs may not make the playoffs this year and all 3 of those guys are having subpar years (Counterpoint: they are capable of making a run obviously, and it's unlikely all 3 will continue to perform below career norms)
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Also, I wonder what the Yankees offered for Quintana? Surely they were in on him too.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Pitcher in his prime who averaged 5 War prior 3 years. s***** He's no Jeff hoffman
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Eloy + Cease + is a steep price but the Cubs have so much young talent they probably don't even blink.

They are probably hoping Hendricks comes back fixed.
