Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Don't forget about Jarred Cosart (more walks than strikeouts) and Trevor Cahill (4 starts in the last two season). Is this the most obvious example of tanking we've seen in recent history? Is there a Bryce Harper type in the draft in 2018? Beer? I should've read your response(P2F), I just clicked on the icon, lol.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 It has to be. There's a real chance for this rotation to be historically bad. Their best starter left over from last season, Luis Perdomo, probably starts in the minors now that he doesn't have to be with the Padres all season - the entire rotation will be without a glimmer of hope. Imagine just how futile Chacin, Richard, Weaver, and likely Cosart and Cahill could be. I wonder if there's someone they really like in 2018. Maybe Seth Beer. Cahill I consider a suuuuper deep sleeper. Chacin I guess has enough talent to fluke his way to a 2 win season?

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Is Seth Beer considered to be an average corner OF or is he only a 1B prospect?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Is Seth Beer considered to be an average corner OF or is he only a 1B prospect? Apparently he has the athleticism to be a COF, but who cares when you're buying the bat? I'm sure he'll be fine in LF.

Yeah if you think he is a 160wRC+ bat it won't matter but was just thinking of the last time a 1B prospect went that high in the draft.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Is Seth Beer considered to be an average corner OF or is he only a 1B prospect? He has a huge arm and was considered solid in RF...he moved to 1B because KJ Bryant is a great RF and Williams moved to catcher. Beer being the most athletic guy on the team so they thought he'd adjust to first quicker than the rest.

It's a wasted season no matter what. So throw a lot of garbage out there, hope some of those pitchers do well in that ballpark then see if they can be flipped for something useful at the deadline. Harping about San Diego's decisions about their rotation is a little like harping the Browns for acquiring Osweiler. Shrewd move in a s***** situation.

Maahfaace Verified Member Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 That was so bad it was remarkable. Obama throwing like a girl while wearing mom jeans was pretty bad as well. Best pitch by a prez has to be G.W Bush right after 9/11. It's the only one I can recall that didn't look like little girl throwing.

The players fought over the ball like a bunch of desperate/single bouquet catchers.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Crushed it. I can't help but like him tbh, and the memory sure is getting some rose coloured glasses treatment lately. e: just meant his personality btw, not talking policies, wars, yadda yadda...politics thread is that way. I love how he ignores the fake rubber they put in at the front of the mound. Goes right to the top like the big boys!

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Trump threw at an opening pitch at Fenway in 2006. Is there any video of that?

I think he honestly seems like a good dude who just wasn't fit or prepared to be president. Alex Jones had an interesting story on Joe Rogan's podcast about how stressed out Bush was during his presidency and just how meticulously all of his actions and movements are analyzed by pretty much everyone, including foreign nations.

This practically guarantees that Liriano is going to outperform Hutch this year and make the Pirates look cheap and short-sighted.

He was a fairly moderate Republican probably destined to be a relatively inconsequential one termer like his dad. Nine/Eleven happened and he became the face of the war on terror and no need to rehash any further...
