Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Seems like a steal for the Rangers
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Seems like a steal for the Rangers He still has a year at league min then his 3 arb years But overall yeah likely still a very good deal for them
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Well there's a comp for a Travis extension. Funny they've put up almost the exact same value in their careers.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Well there's a comp for a Travis extension. Funny they've put up almost the exact same value in their careers. Only Odor needed 1519 ABs to do what Travis has done in 670 ABs lol.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Odor gets a 6 year extension for $49.5 million with Texas How did he sign for so cheap, considering he could be a 25-30 homers/year guy?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 How did he sign for so cheap, considering he could be a 25-30 homers/year guy? Well he's kind of a butcher and he doesn't get on base at all. If he's not hitting the ball out of the ballpark he's almost useless. But I guess if he remains excellent at hitting fastballs Texas doesn't care. And apparently he's a cult hero for punching Jose Bautista. He will always have a special place in the hearts of Rangers fans whose hearts are use to being stomped on.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 How did he sign for so cheap, considering he could be a 25-30 homers/year guy? Guaranteed money, that's why. Simple.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Odor's 23. Pretty sure Ranger fans like him more than just because he punched Bautista
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Seems like a steal for the Rangers Cards bought out four arbitration years and got Carpenter for 6 years/$52M and he was coming off a 6.9 fWAR season (Kipnis got almost exactly the same). If he keeps up his current pace he's likely only going to make $20M before through to his free agency year. I know Odor is young but I don't even put him near the top 10 2B's yet, no way I make this a priority signing.

Could swing bad like Andrus. Odor (apparently) is a s*** defender, and we know he's absolutely a hacker extraordinaire -- sharp decline / bad volatile year potential. Sick Aaron Dell add yesterday by the way bro
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 How did he sign for so cheap, considering he could be a 25-30 homers/year guy? Because he sucks at everything else
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Sick Aaron Dell add yesterday by the way bro f*** you. a 200 save shutout and I'd be right there.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Wrong. Not wrong but I know you like disagreeing with me about everything so cool.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Wrong. Why wrong? Odor isn't good at much but hitting bombs.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Not wrong but I know you like disagreeing with me about everything so cool. Why wrong? Odor isn't good at much but hitting bombs. So what does this half to do with the kid signing guaranteed money?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Mark Lowe cut by the Tigers--$11M flushed down the can. Boy, did he fall off after leaving Toronto...
flafson Verified Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Mark Lowe cut by the Tigers--$11M flushed down the can. Boy, did he fall off after leaving Toronto... I'd take him on a minor league deal. There is a chance he just needs to adjust to his lower velocity or he's total garbage now.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 So what does this half to do with the kid signing guaranteed money? Jonn stated he thinks odor is a one trick pony, I tend to agree, and isn't worth this kind of extension so early in his career. Unless, you were saying "wrong" with reference to the 2nd part of his statement. It was 5am Saturday night and completely understandable if you was shittered.

Mark Lowe turned 3 decent months with Seattle into a shot at a ring with the Jays (where he was nothing special) and then $11m. He is what all journeyman relievers should aspire to.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Stephen Matz skipping start with elbow irritation -- uh oh!
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 ^ Very good idea. At this point in his career, he appears to have a very low chance of having anything more than a low impact as a position player. As a high school LHP he apparently showed a lot of upside, it's worthwhile to see if he's more useful on the mound.
