G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Zach Britton shut down due to oblique injury
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I knew a Steve phillips was the Mets Gm, I just assumed it was a common name and it was a different Steve phillips at tsn I listen to him all the time on mlb network radio
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Heh, I get the intellectual dishonesty with stat cherrypicking but is there a person alive that didn't roll their eyes at the Britton wasn't a closer, then Matt developed him part? That's just garbage vomiting from mouth. No kidding. Britton's emergence as arguably the best closer in baseball was obviously Showalter's genius and mastery of all thing baseball.

His arguments on the podcast for a team giving Weiters a ton of money were: 1) He's like Carlton Fisk!!! 2) No team ever wins the World Series with a young catcher. 3) some weird point about Buster Posey? 4) rambles

Maybe Caleb Joseph should be the one getting credit.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 A-Rod has told reporters that he's now officially retired. Not really that surprising, but with 696 career home runs I thought he might have signed on for a cameo role somewhere like Seattle to either catch Babe Ruth or just hit 700 and help sell some tickets.

I thought he might try for it as well but no one really cares about his home run milestones since he's a known and admitted 'roid user. It also takes a lot to get geared up and ready to play just to chase a largely meaningless milestone. There probably would only be a handful of teams that would be mildly interested.

I think him trying to overtake Babe Ruth would be entertaining enough just for opposing fans booing him every at bat! The Yankees are still paying him $21m this year, making him the 16th highest paid position player in 2017. Crazy.

That's one of the main reasons I thought a team would give him an opportunity to play - it's such a low commitment for any AL team that's out of playoff contention but wants to drum up some ticket sales as they'd only need to pay pro-rated minimum salary.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I'm not one that thinks teams should govern their player's facial hair but this might be the exception.
TholesWeirdEye Verified Member Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 His neck beard reminds me of someone..
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I'm glad to see they've finally mixed Colby's meds such that he can express emotion other than resentment and fear of his father.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Goddamn that is one ugly redneck.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 So he grew out just for the team photo or the Rays told him to shave it. I think he just wanted to look stupid in his mug shot.
