TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Why would you spend one second of your life wondering if players had a personal falling out? for fantasy research of course. Can't have your staff ace depressed about a lost bromance. i just prefer my staff ace to drive into rocks on a boat.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 If I was an elite baseball player I'd hire Scott Boras. So why would Sanchez hire him?

43211234 Verified Member Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Was it ever found out what happened between him and Stroman? Used to share the same agent, live together be basically tied at the hip. Now.. nothing. Probably nothing. They're both a few years older and have a few years of big league time getting used to the life. They probably just want to have their own places. The media maybe overplayed their closeness.

Seemed every f***ing start in April or May the Broadcast would talk about how close they were and how they push each other to be great. Doesn't make a difference in terms of cheering for them or the team.

King Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Like half of those tweets are from 2014. When they were first coming up into the MLB. Incase you needed more. Here's some articles. I don't really see what you are trying to argue, it's obvious to anyone who isn't an idiot that they were/are good friends. Not in the minor leagues https://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2015/04/02/sanchez-feels-stromans-pain-but-young-jays-bond-still-strong.html http://www.torontosun.com/2014/05/10/jays-stroman-and-sanchez-are-fast-friends TORONTO - Pretty well every day without fail Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman gets in touch with Aaron Sanchez, another talented young pitcher in the Jays organization. The way Stroman talks about Sanchez, you’d think they’ve known each other forever. But the fact is, the two didn’t meet until the Florida instructional league in 2012. But as Stroman said on Saturday prior to the Jays’ 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels, they just clicked and have formed an extremely tight, lasting friendship. Whenever one pitches, they’ll break down the performance the next day, what went well, what didn’t, how to improve. “If we had a rough outing, we’ll kind of talk about it, just clear our heads, get it right and vice versa,” said Stroman. “If we had a good one, we’ll talk about what worked. It’s good to have someone there who has the same goals as you.” Both are first-round draft picks of the Jays (Sanchez in 2010, Stroman in 2012) and both are right-handed pitchers. After that, they don’t have a ton in common. Stroman is from Medford, N.Y., on Long Island while Sanchez hails from Barstow, Calif. Stroman is listed (very generously) at 5-foot-9 while Sanchez is 6-foot-4. Stroman was selected out of Duke University (Duke’s first ever first round pick) while Sanchez was picked out of Barstow High (home of the Aztecs). Stroman is black, Sanchez white. However, if anything, their differences have made them even better friends. “I feel we’re pretty much the same person,” said Stroman, who turned 23 on May 1. “We don’t have much in common, but we have the same type of personality. Just the same carefree, easy living, not scared to joke around and bust your balls here and there.” Stroman was called up from triple-A Buffalo on May 4 and earned his first big-league win two days later at Philadelphia, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings. He went 2-2 with a 1.69 ERA as a starter with the Bisons this season. Sanchez, 21, is currently with double-A New Hampshire and in eight starts, has a 1-2 record with a 3.05 ERA. And though Stroman beat his good friend to the majors, he has no doubt that Sanchez will make it to the bigs sooner than later. “He’s unbelievable,” said Stroman. “I think he’s one of the best prospects in all of baseball. He’s not far off. I think he can contribute at this level and he’s working extremely hard down there to just refine some stuff. But he’ll definitely be a contributor to this team at some point.” Sanchez throws a mid-90s fastball (as does Stroman), has a nasty curve ball and is polishing a changeup. Stroman has a full arsenal of pitches and also began using a change up consistently this year. “It’s been pretty huge,” he said. “Just starting in Buffalo, I threw it a lot. It’s a little different now that I’m the bullpen (in Toronto). But I feel I’ve made huge strides with it. I think a good quality change is probably one of the best, if not the best pitch in baseball because it equalizes if you’re throwing mid-90s. As far as messing up timing, I think it’s the best pitch in the baseball and it’s huge to have.” Stroman’s hope is to be able to talk to his friend without a phone, every day, as teammates in the majors. “That’s what we always talk about,” said Stroman. “That’s what keeps us motivated and working hard. That’s the end goal.” On the surface, Stroman’s arrival in the majors was big (so to speak) if only because of his stature. As previously mentioned, he’s listed at 5-9, but that’s a stretch (so to speak). But his record in pro and college ball speaks for itself. “You don’t see many right-handers that size,” said Jays manager John Gibbons. “(Jason) Frasor was here for a long time and you always wonder how Frasor generates what he does. Plus he was coming off two Tommy Johns. But you know guys like that, the odds are always against them, whatever sports they play. So a lot of them have that chip on their shoulder and they’re great competitors and they’re always out to prove (themselves). (Stroman’s) very confident.” Stroman grew up having to prove himself because of his size, but said he enjoys it now, showing people that he can do what the big guys can. “Sometimes you just get labelled based on stature,” he said. “All growing up it was ‘He can’t do it because of his height.’ That’s why I work so hard.”

Or you could have just let things lie, because you know Jimcanuck is just going to twist things until its his interpretation of him being "right". So your effort was futile.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Phillips on the Sanchize reunion with Boras... http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/video Steve Phillips talking out of his ass. If Sanchez pitched the way he did last year for 4 more years, he'd be getting a huge contract no matter who he has as an agent. I'd rather TSN have Burlington Bandit investigate why he left his previous agent in a non arbitration/non contract year, than have Steve Phillips speculate about value 4 years in the future.

King Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 It's the offseason. Seems perfectly reasonable to take a break from the guys you spend 200 days a year with to me. Edit: Didn't notice he unfollowed him, that seems a bit odd. Here's what someone said in that reddit thread It is really strange, I had a look at Stroman's Twitter mentions and it's a drastic change. From the time the Jays were eliminated by the Royals in 2015, to this date a year ago, Stroman tagged Sanchez exactly 50 times times, a lot of them being photos of various events that they attended together. This year? Stroman hasn't tagged Sanchez a single time since October 3rd, the end of the regular season. Edit: Furthermore, Stroman and Sanchez used to post a ton of pictures of them together, I can't find a single one of them together this offseason. And it's not like Stroman has stopped posting pictures. Instead Ive found pictures of Stroman with Machado, Betances, Fowler and Betts, Stroman with Russell Westbrook, Stroman with Donaldson, Stroman with Ortiz, Stroman with Fowler and Sabbathia, Stroman with Donaldson again, Stroman with Goins, and Stroman with Bautista, as well as a whole bunch more of Srroman with his friends. Additionally towards the end of the season, Stroman posted pictures of Donaldson wearing HDMH apparel, as well as Pillar and Travis, but again nothing with Sanchez. For two guys who were supposedly "best friends" they do seem pretty distant.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 So what you are all saying is that Sanchez brought on Boras to be the bad guy for when he requests a trade.
