BlueJays Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Damn. They got a good package on Eaton
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Worthy of it's own thread IMO.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Apparently it's Giolito + Reynaldo Lopez + Dane Dunning wowee
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 f*** that's some haul. If they unload everyone they very well may win the offseason
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Thats a lot of premium talent coming in for 2 guys (I still think they should have gone quality vs quantity with Sale and got better secondary guys for Sale). I respect how Chicago is jumping into the rebuild with both feet
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Holy s***. Sox gonna be good

What other team has that and wanted Sale?

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Man Chicago is rebuilding heavy. I wonder what they can get for Quintana
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 The Jays should have done something similar 20 years ago, instead of half-assing their way to mediocre teams for 30 years.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Great deal... we had nothing even close to that offer. Great trade on both sides, love what the Chisox are doing.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Holy Christ that's a haul for Eaton
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Risky though with all 3 being pitching prospects.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Where will the White Sox stop? Do we want Frazier or Abreu?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Where will the White Sox stop? Do we want Frazier or Abreu? Abreu would be great, but what would it take is the question.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Huh, I just saw somewhere that the likely plan is to play Eaton at CF, which is understandable given that they want Turner back at SS, but takes a hit to Eaton's value. He grades out as a negative defender in CF by both DRS and UZR/150, although he likely hasn't played there enough to have fully regressed numbers, and he's wildy above average in RF, albeit in a very small sample size.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 White Sox are doing the right thing. They'll be in good shape in 3-5 years.

Well there is some garbage player named Harper in RF that they could move.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 White Sox look to be on their way to a nice team down the road, they are doing things properly. They still have some assets to trade, and they will most likely start getting top 5 picks to combine with their high end prospects.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) I wonder if it's an unload and reload situation for them. They didn't just unload top talent, they moved two top talents signed to value contracts. I'm not sure anyone has ever used this line to a rebuild when they have so few offensive pieces to move forward with. This is a team that has an OF of Tilson, Coats, Melky and Garcia. With not much on the horizon, especially if Basabe doesn't work out. Edited December 7, 2016 by TheHurl
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Did the White Sox hire new management?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Did the White Sox hire new management? I think Hahn is in charge now where before Kenny Williams was making most of the decisions. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'm going to guess that there are not a lot of people in the decision making process in Washington which care about UZR or DRS.

crmr Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Not too high on Giolito, think Washington did well to trade him (seems as though they were desperately trying to). Eaton is a nice piece overall, should help them out
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Did the White Sox hire new management? All I've read is how bad the white sox front office is, but they seem to have made a couple pretty good deals
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Lol Passan on Tim & Sid saying the Nats should have offered the same package for Cutch. People just freak out at the name and don't even look at the contract.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 All I've read is how bad the white sox front office is, but they seem to have made a couple pretty good deals Eh. It doesn't take that much skill to have other organizations throw great prospects at you for your elite players. The Sox accomplished pretty much nothing while having Sale for four years after his breakout, despite trying. Their last competitive season was 2012 when they got run down in the standings by a mediocre Tigers club.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
