Edwin's agent talking about taxes mean He would take a 4 year offer from the Rangers than from Toronto as Texas has no state tax.

 

Either it's the Astros or Rangers though I just can't imagine Rangers making that offer after watching Fielder become what he has

I think the comment his agent made about the Jays "showing him the most love" were very likely posturing and angling to squeeze every last dollar out of other potential suitors. Any time an agent goes to the media with any comments on a free agent it's safe to assume it's calculated and for the purpose of advancing their clients position and earning potential.

 

What you've said is correct. Part of it, however, is also lifted verbatim from a TSN broadcast I just watched.

Helps when you have Two top 3 draft picks to build off of. They had to be crap for a few years to get those high picks and slot bonuses that came along with that.

Which is not good news for the blue jays.

Astros are going to be the Cubs of the AL if this is for real (and if they nab some huge arms).

I don't think their starting pitching is on the level of the Cubs, though their bullpen is excellent and will likely continue being a very strong part of their team next season. I think they'll be a version of last year's Red Sox with a better bullpen and likely worse (?) starting pitching.

 

That lineup is certainly impressive though, and their core pieces are still quite cheap.
