Ps

I'll miss Jose despite his douchbaggery! Guy is a legend here and I'll have a hard time cheering against him even in a Red Sox uniform. One of the best players in franchise history, guy deserves a bat flip statue outside the dome.

If we replace Jose and EE with redick and morales does anyone hear think we're a playoff team?

I'm not so sure we are.

Add Votto to that mix and I'm on board.

I think Reddick would replace Saunders tbh.

I just think he's too arrogant and his ego is too big. He still wants to be paid like an elite hitter.

I think there's a decent chance he feels like he got ripped off on the previous deal he signed with the Jays and has the mindset that he has to get overpaid this time around to make up for it. That of course is incredible short sighted (given the Jays took a big risk on him after 1 good season).

How do you suspend the bat though???

We need to replace 2 outfielders. I see Redick as a Platoon partner for Upton then you still need 1 more outfielder.

Could be the best value move to sign Jose to play 1B. His market will be hurt with the pick attached. He played 3B, so I assume he could handle 1B easily. I anticipate he'll only require 2-3 years to get done.

Sign Reddick, Pearce, and Pagan, and I think there's enough talent spread around to put the team in the 85 win area. If Gibbons finally learns how to use a pen and maybe the Jays get lucky in one run games finally, then it's possible. That's all you can really ask for given how short sighted the previous regime was. If the 2017 team can contend and continue to build up the farm, then it's a success.

People seem to forget how he single-handedly carries us past Texas last year. He was ridiculous in the post-season in 2015.

A real shame we can't sign him to a lengthy contract, and have him retire here. A big send-off and retirement game is the kind of thing that keeps fans loyal to the game, even in the down years. Toronto has never really gotten that though. We never hang on to any of our veteran franchise players. That's why we'll never pack a stadium in September when we're under .500

You mean like the Yankee did with Jeter and Mo? 2 HOF players who were lifetime Yankees?

I completely understand the frustration with Bautista's attitude but he's never done anything that should tarnish the perception of his greatness. He may not be as easy to root for as Doc and some of the others but there's no denying Bautista's legacy as one of our all time greats.

The douchiness is a double edged sword IMO; it's not all bad.

It gave us the bat flip and the subsequent Rangers sweep- that storyline might be the best thing the Jays have had since winning the 93 WS. It also produced all those run-ins with the Orioles. Who almost gets beaned and then in the same AB hits a dinger and tells the other team to kiss his ass as he rounds the bases? He did that multiple times too. That might not ever happen again. I'll miss him.

Think it could be sum'd up like this, if Batz was a poster on the BJMB there would have been good days and bad days in words or play. But he still would have been a loveable ******* and welcomed here and he would drink Rum! Lol yes Edited by BigBounceyBlueBalls

Yep, and quite possibly had the greatest peak of any player in franchise history.

All this said HE AIN'T GONE YET

I'm going to stop talking like he is

True, but I get the feeling this FO will take the pick and replace him with a younger bat.

I wonder how much Jose thinks he's worth now? lol last off season he thought he was worth 30M/year for at least 6 years. lol that ain't gonna happen.

At this point he seems more likely to land somewhere closer to half that term and half the AAV.

LMFAO, Nothing was accomplished during Delgado and Halladay's era, the entire time was a waste of time. In the end it was Jose Bautista's coming to age that made the difference for this team. Him and EE.

Halladay wasted his career here as did Delgado. Its hard to argue with Alomar because we won multiple WS, but if Bautista is second to anyone its Alomar only.

Right....and Mike Trout isn't the best player in baseball because his team doesn't make the playoffs. Piss off

The Angels have atleast seen the playoffs, they have been relevant

The Jays through the entirety of the Delagdo and Halladay era did not even once sniff a game that matters. They were not in a single race.

If neither had existed, nothing would have changed.
