He was my second choice to Edwin

 

If Edwin signs elsewhere for 20-25M and the difference is used to improve elsewhere that's fine even though I'll miss him something awful

Need to factor in the Rogers Centre into all of this. Away from Rogers Centre, EE's numbers will go down. Morales's numbers will be better at Rogers Centre.

 

Morales is a very good signing.

 

Also tells us that Shapkins are still in "win now" mode and not in rebuild mode.

What's wrong with getting 2 more guys like Pearce, reddick, fowler. Maybe not those guys but one of them and someone else. Maybe two more 10-15 million guys instead of Edwin. If they get Edwin won't be as much cash for the outfield right? That and some washed up guys in the bullpen and were set.

It's been reported today that the Jays are in on both Fowler and Reddick.

I saw it on Twitter today. I believe it was Morosi. I didn't post it though because people bitch and complain on here when you create threads on that stuff...

For payroll purposes, they decided to use the money from SD on their 2017 books, giving him effectively no salary for payroll purposes this year.

How much of it though? I thought we were still paying him a decent chunk?

It was around 3 mill and it was mostly paid out last year.

Yep, San Diego is paying virtually all of it. Except for $1M i believe

 

Looks to me like Shatkins is working to load up the farm system. Not going to be a contender in 2017, maybe a weak one. I'm Ok with this, the Jays chances without both EE and JB, and a declining Tulo and Martin, a bit slim anyway. Too many other superior teams.

It was actually close to 5M Toronto was responsible for over 2016 and 2017. They just elected to put it all on the 2016 books.

Apparently according to Shi on Sportsnet Jays made their best offer and Edwin's camp said they won't be accepting

 

This closes the chapter on the EE era per Shi

Any guesses on what the best offer was?
