Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I'm gonna go with: 1) Jose Bautista 2) Dexter Fowler 3) Mark Melancon

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2016 Author Posted November 4, 2016 But on a personal level I would really love to see Shatkins break the piggy bank for Kenley Jansen.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 1) EE 2) Cecil 3) Ziegler 4) Fowler 5) Mathis 6) Pearce Yes plz. Except Mathis. I'd really like Ziegler. The wheels will fall off eventually, but for now he's very effective, and a lot of fun to watch because he's so unique.

I would go to 5 years for Kenley. I absolutely love him. Probably wouldn't do $20M AAV though, that seems insane (although someone will probably do it).

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Shopping List: 1B DH LF RF Backup C Utility MLB RP x 2 (at least one LHRP) Swingman / depth SP candidates x 3+ Depth RP candidates x 3+ Free agent list sucks. I don't think they should spend big on anyone other than EE. Hopes: Beltran would be sweet. Bautista would be OK at the right price. Thames would be sweet. Ziegler or Uehara. Boone Logan or Cecil. Steve Pearce! Conger or Castro to backup. Bud Norris and Trevor Cahill please. I don't really want any part of Fowler or Cespedes. Or Reddick or Desmond. Unless the market falls out of one of them. Trades please.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Pearce CASTRO Cecil Uehara (he's ageless) Maybe if Encarnacion depending on the money, if not, Beltran Maybe Gomez depending on the price.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Same. I think much of the heavy lifting to fill those positions will come from trades, taking in salaries, purchasing prospects from other teams (e.g. Liriano deal).

And his skills set fits the team like a glove: probably a + corner OF with a leadoff hitter profile that should prevent Gibby from using Carrera in the spot.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Beyond some of the others people have mentioned (Pearce, Logan, Thames, Conger/Castro/Ruiz), take a run at Greg Holland please. Glad we really aren't in need of a lot of starting pitching to actually fill the rotation (besides depth/insurance).

I think Fowler could get more like 5/100, which I wouldn't be particularly in favor of. I'd love to get him at 4/60.

Ethier would be that type of deal imo (not sure they'd give up assets as well, but may eat some salary).

You think his value is up that much from a year ago? He's had seasons before where he's graded out as about average defensively, and season of 120-130 wRC+. He did both in 2016, but I don't think many teams have altered their perspective of him as a player. The market is a lot thinner this year, but going from 1/13 to 5/100 is a big jump.

Well, two years (this last one even better) suggests less of a fluke than a single year. 8 war over the last 2 years isn't unsignificant, and a move to a corner outfield spot would drastically increase his defensive value. I wouldn't pay 20 per for him, but I think someone will.
