HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Do you guys actually think Bautista is done? Second highest walk rate of his career.. Highest % of hard hit balls in his career. He didn't crush fastballs this year like he normally does (and that can be attributed to age and injuries) but there is no reason to think he doesn't have at least 2-3 good years left. He's a student of the game. There is no doubt that he'll find a way to adapt to his declining bat speed. He's completely transformed himself once before. I think this is a perfect situation for him and the Jays to meet in the middle and come to a reasonable deal. DH bat
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I'm not on the anti Bautista bandwagon but I'd be willing to bet dollar bills that him playing in the field has something to do with him selling Gibbons on the fact that he's more into the game and a better hitter when he's playing in the field.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Bautista is not a winner http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/mlb-host-blue-jays-jose-bautista-not-winning-baseball-player/
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Yeah, or at least make the Indians play the series without Carrasco, Salazar, and Brantley. Lol the casuals are f***ing cancer sometimes.

Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I was joking. I know they don't have 2 of their 3 best pitchers and Bauer might not be able to go this series

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I'd be all for bringing him back. Market rate is something like 2 years, 36 million though. Not sure if he'd be willing to do that. If that is indeed market rate then he'll have to accept it from someone.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 If that is indeed market rate then he'll have to accept it from someone. Lol yeah good point I worded that incorrectly. I meant market rate as set forth in the past for similar players. Beltre 2 for 36 and Beltran 3 for 45. I'd be comfortable with numbers like that although I think Bautista could push for more elsewhere and perhaps get a team to bite.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 The Beltran and V-Mart deals seem like the best comps for Bautista. I doubt he'll get the same AAV as Beltre, who is a comparable hitter but still an elite defender. I also kinda feel like Beltre gave a bit of a discount on that deal.
Leafs2726 Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Not a fan of JB. Too much mouth and not enough play on the field and batters box. Prove me wrong JB
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 lol the whole reason Bautista became who he is here is because he stopped trying to go the other way and instead started swinging for the fences. No one was complaining when he hit that 3 run bomb off Dyson last year.

Prove me wrong JB He doesn't have to prove anything to you. He was good before you joined the bandwagon in 2015 and claimed yourself a "Jays" fan

No one was complaining when he hit that 3 run bomb off Dyson last year. That ball was center cut. You're not supposed to go the other way. But if they're pitching you outside all the time, you shorten up, wait a bit and go oppo.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 This rookie doesn't appear to be shaking in his boots. I'd say maybe next time Bautista will keep his f***ing mouth shut but I know he won't.
