burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 If the jays get to the World Series they would have home field advantage lmaoo I think having the 3 home games in the middle might be more of an advantage. Basically if you steal 1 of the first 2 all you need is to win 2/3 at home and then you are in the drivers seat.

Ridiculous!
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 yeah, there really isnt a fair way of doing it though. Comparing records against teams in 2 different leagues isn't exactly ideal either They used to just alternate between leagues which no one really liked either. I remember in 1987 the barely over .500 Twins beat the Cards in 7 by taking all four games in an extremely loud Metrodome. A lot of people felt the superior Cards would have taken it with home field advantage but it was the A.L.'s turn and that was just how it was done. They also had alternating home field advantages LCS (East and West) too and when they first introduced the LDS, they did it that way there as well but it caused a lot of confusion and complaints and they changed both the LDS and LCS pretty quickly to the seeded system they have now.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I don't get the people who are generalizing players like Lucroy and thinking they know what is important to him. Baseball players are just people and have priorities like the rest of us. They are all different. I've personally turned down money to move to Southern Ontario and to various jobs that I don't like. I don't give a f*** about taxes and I want to live in a nice city with a stress free job. There's no reason to think some baseball players wouldn't have the same priorities.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Seriously, they should just reward it to the team with the better record. If both teams are tied, then it should go to the winner of the series match-up If no record exists, then I'm sure they can figure out more fair qualifiers

Players have always tried in the MLB all-star game. Awarded HFA to the all-star game winner is stupid.

Unfair but better than most ways.

Players have always tried in the MLB all-star game. Awarded HFA to the all-star game winner is stupid. This. They still manage it exactly the same. They still try to get a many players into the game. No pitcher wants to pitch a real start. Most hitters wants to be taken out as soon as possible. You can't make players want to risk injury for the All-Star game. They're always going to treat it like an exhibition no matter how hard Bud Selig tried to make them feel otherwise.

Mkdaman1818 Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 So looks like it'll be Estrada, Stroman/Happ, Happ/Stroman, Sanchez
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 The Soo though.... lolzz no thanks. That's just my point though. It's an outdoorsman's paradise, but not much else. That is perfect for me, but everyone has their priorities.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 yaaaas I guess they would rather have Stroman in a game 7 then? Estrada Happ Stroman Sanchez Estrada Happ Stroman
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Honestly in game 7, it's a do or die game, I'm sure everyone will be available to pitch
SweetSmellingChacin Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I like Estrada in games 1 and 5. There's no guarantee that this goes 7 and I want Estrada pitching in two of the games. Winning game 5 could mean the difference between heading on the road up 3-2 instead of being down 3-2. That's a big difference.

Yeah I guess, I just look at outdoors life to be in the mountains and not in Northern Ontario, I turned down a job once out on the border of Saskatchewan and Alberta even though they offered to pay me an extra $10k a year, couldn't do it, too small of a town I guess for me.
SweetSmellingChacin Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 So looks like it'll be Estrada, Stroman/Happ, Happ/Stroman, Sanchez I think they will go Happ in game 2, Stro in game 3. I think they like the idea of going with the vets on the road, like they did in Texas.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Im assuming they'll throw Kluber in games 1 4 and 7 (if nec). We hit him well in Toronto earlier this year but he came back with a good performance in Cleveland, but not dominating by any means. Bring it on
admin Site Manager Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Hope Happ is on a tight leash. Almost every inning he was ready to implode.
SweetSmellingChacin Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 The good thing about Sanchez in game 4 is that he should be able to pitch out of the pen in a game 7 situation.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 I wonder, with the importance of this series and how we're starting on the road, should we have Stroman available in the BP just in case? Like he should be penned for game #3, but lets say Happ or Estrada struggles early and we need length (this is before Liriano is cleared so I guess only applies to Estrada) he can come in, give some length, then we can start him in game 5 after Sanchez and Estrada (on short rest) goes again? Stroman is going to be going on 13 days rest not sure if that's a good thing
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Estrada is Gibby's guy. Hard to blame him hes been great in the playoffs. I wonder how Stroman feels about being skipped.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Alex was good when traded for Estrada.

And other then a short stretch this season (likely due to his back) he has been our most reliable. Can't really argue about him going in game 1. Also I am guessing if he is pitching game 3 in Toronto he likely does not care. He loves playing in the rocking dome.
