The Cubs are absolutely the better team.

 

I wasn't debating that. I simply think there's more to the playoffs than regular season performance.

 

For example, you were all sucking the red sox dicks as a vastly superior team to the Indians. I guess it's true when you agree with the narrative and not true when you don't.

"vastly" is a stretch. Both teams are/were obviously quite good.

I'm saying that I have reviewed some statistical data and came to the conclusion that the Cubs shouldn't be favoured because of their regular season record.

Taking that conclusion into account, I have a gut feeling that the Giants have some guys like Bumgarner and Posey that thrive in the playoffs and it's more than a fluke.

Giants are a difficult team to beat in a 7 game series. If Bumgarner is rested, they could throw him at you 2-3 times easily. Cueto has pitched well for them, and guys like Shark & Moore can pitch well at AT&T. The lineup is still pretty good (Span, Pence, Posey, Belt, Crawford). Gillaspie is having a Marco Scutaro type postseason for them. Giants would be a dangerous team, don't kid yourself.

I don't see the relevance of anything you posted. You posted an undergraduate paper? I think it's good that he stayed within his word limit and double spaced it. Probably got an A.

 

MLB playoff series are too short for teams to be strong favourites. Even with big talent differences, any given series is close to a coin flip. It's a fun bundle of randomness.

 

Only a mental midget like yourself would see a team win twice in four years and think something special or predictive is actually happening.

Lol!! Where do I start? My argument all along was that regular season success isn't an indicator of postseason success.

 

I posted statistical data to back that up after you disputed that statement by saying:

It doesn't matter if they are a 'better team' once the playoffs start. Other factors, whether they be luck or something else, come into play at this point.

 

If you want to continue your argument that the Cubs regular season record is important in determining postseason success then let's see your evidence.

We're talking about maybe having a 55% chance to win vs. maybe a 50% chance. Some very small, nearly insignificant difference.

 

You explicitly cited the Giants track record in the playoffs as a reason you don't want to face them. That's irrelevant! Pure cognitive bias.

 

And for the record, the "statistical data" that you would need to support your position is that past playoff success = future playoff success. You didn't do that.

 

I am right and you are dumb I know it's hard to admit.
