admin Site Manager Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Who do you give the ball to? New poll since Sanchez just pitched.2
admin Site Manager Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 I vote Liriano but I bet it's Stroman.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 welp, hit the reset button on the 10 page discussion.. Liriano for all the reasons we discussed.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Orioles have hit significantly worse against lefties this year. They've hit Stroman pretty well.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I vote Liriano but I bet it's Stroman. Atkins sounds like he's leaning towards Liriano (hes on the Jeff Blair show rn)..... "You gotta think about pinch hit possibilities off the bench as well" Eliminating the kim weapon late in games? "Which ever of the two we choose the other has to be ready to come out of the pen" I have a feeling that Stroman has better makeup of coming out firing strikes from the BP But that's me reading into his statements, he's being tight lipped saying he's getting on the phone with Walker and Gibbons to go over everything and they can't go wrong with either one
youngtea Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Someone make a new thread because Happ option isn't available. I guess we really need a new thread cause the admin decided so.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Just looked at the O's splits. Fine Liriano with Stroman ready to go with any sign of him being s***.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Someone make a new thread because Happ option isn't available. I guess we really need a new thread cause the admin decided so. Because anyone with half a brain is not starting Happ on 2 days rest..... It is not realistic at all.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Because anyone with half a brain is not starting Happ on 2 days rest..... It is not realistic at all. According to you, 7 people don't have half a brain!
Jonzo Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I want nothing to do with Stroman in this situation against the O's.
WONDERBAT Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I'm all for Liriano with Stroman piggybacking if necessary. Need to take the sting out of the lefty Bats. I feel like Gibbons is going to want to give it to Stroman.
CBlake Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Because anyone with half a brain is not starting Happ on 2 days rest..... It is not realistic at all. This is not the Mark Buehrle situation, man I still think that was stupid.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Jeff Blair claims that he might know who's getting started and he'll announce it on Baseball Central.... let's see if he's full of s*** or not lol
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I think having Liriano start with Stroman ready out of the pen is the way to go.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Jeff Blair claims that he might know the 'might' gives him protection if he gets it wrong
SweetSmellingChacin Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I'd go with Liriano to start. You will be able to tell really early if you're going to get good Liriano or bad Liriano. If he has control of his pitches, he will keep the Jays in the game as his stuff is really good. If he's walking guys early, you go with a quick hook and bring in Stro.
Ebbetsfield Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Estrada not an option after his performance in the postseason last year?
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Jeff Blair claims that he might know who's getting started and he'll announce it on Baseball Central.... let's see if he's full of s*** or not lol Ie. He might have a guest on who might tell him.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 if we send Stroman to the mound we better be ready to score some runs
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Blair is the same as us he has a 50% chance of being right. And him saying he might know how it is going be is basically him just guessing like us.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 if we send Stroman to the mound we better be ready to score some runs We better be ready to score some runs regardless.

I feel like Gibbons is going to want to give it to Stroman. I don't think gibbons is going to be the one making this decision.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Estrada not an option after his performance in the postseason last year? I think he's set to start game 1 of the ALCS on regular rest. I know the game is important, but we've seen what happens when you mess with their routines.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 the 'might' gives him protection if he gets it wrong Ie. He might have a guest on who might tell him. I think I misunderstood what he said. He had Atikins on earlier and I heard him say that immediately after the interview he's calling up Walker and Gibbons and talking to them to make a final decision. Blair came on and said they might find out who it is before the end of the show. I'm guessing he thinks that the decision will be formed and leaked through one of the SN writers before 12
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I think he's set to start game 1 of the ALCS on regular rest[/b]. I know the game is important, but we've seen what happens when you mess with their routines. Lets worry about the WC and the ALDS first
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 We better be ready to score some runs regardless. With Liriano we can win a 3-2 type game. Stroman is giving up at least 4 over 6 innings. The Orioles square him up real good He is exactly the kind of pitcher they are strong with it. Liriano had them at odds for 6 innings. In fact I'd rather go with Estrada on 3 days rest than Stroman.
rydermike Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Why not both? Ala dickey/price Liriano for twice through the order, then stroman for once or twice through the order
JoeCarter Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Stroman has the best second half xFIP in the American League, and 2nd best in all of baseball (wedged between Fernandez and Syndergaard). And you guys want to pass him over in favour of a mediocre LHP foisted onto us in a salary dump because he's strung together a handful of good starts. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2016 Blue Jays Message Board!
