BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 They picked up Navarro off the scrap heap, in case Martin were to get injured, he knows the staff, etc, I don't think it was for his bat, it was to catch. Seeing him PH over others on the bench is confusing though. "confusing" wouldn't be my word for it Spank!
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2016 Author Posted October 18, 2016 No matter what happens we end up in the same spot... with the same four possibilities 1. Swift kick in the nuts - it ends in hours. 2. Long ball squeeze - it ends in ~30 hours. Same as 1., depressing last game at home, but just longer. 3. That was kind of OK - it ends in Cleveland on the weekend, given everything it feels like a win, cuz we end at the exact same point as last year. 4. WTF There is a game tonight?? - There is a game Tuesday

Cleveland starts two toilet pitchers and then throws Kluber on 3 days rest for the second consecutive time. I'm on team explosion. I'm most worried about today's game though.

After the past two games, any toilet pitcher could flush the Jays post season hopes down the drain

Amazing Zeke isn't on this list of goners. I was not in that camp at the start of the year. The guy has played his way into some respect on this board.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 well a zeke/upton platoon wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Agreed on all fronts although I would take Dickey back if he'd be open to a Tim Wakefield circa-2010 role and would take the appropriate pay to do so. If anyone could debunk any reasons on why having a knuckleballer as your long reliever is a bad idea I would be completely open to that. We have a great starting five but we have almost nothing from 6 on. Dickey could provide some stability there.

Dickey will probably sign a 1 year deal with an NL team as a SP to rebuild his value, or retire. Time to let him and his personal catcher go and bring in a real backup catcher.

They allegedly couldn't even coax Martin into catching him once at all this season. I doubt they'd be able to convince him to start dealing with the KB for mid-game blowout losses. And you wouldn't want to sign Thole just to sub in during the middle of games. Sign a competent back-up and just shake Dickey and Thole's hands and thank them for their service. Done. If Martin ever changed his mind I think it might be a pretty good flyer though. Dickey probably wants to finish his career as an SP making as much as possible, though...

Time to move on.

King Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Yeah I know we've got Bolsinger but that's about it, no? Bolsinger. SRF will be in AA and could present himself as a rotation option by midseason. Greene needs to take a step forward and if he does then he becomes an option as well. I wouldn't worry about rotation depth it has become clear the FO sees it as a priority unlike when we were in the AA years. There is a possibility that Biagini is sent to Buffalo to start (or just keep him in the bullpen - either or). And we will definitely be signing some Wade Leblanc types that can pitch in Buffalo as depth.
