You can't blame Gibby for not going to the mound and saying lets not do this, in the same breath the ump could have taken full control of the situation by giving warnings when the throw went behind Headley, instead he let it play itself out.

Also the entirety of the Toronto Blue Jays could have not acting like f***ing morons over an incident their own guy escalated and a retaliation that was completely expected. It's worth mentioning that both HBPs were buttshots (actually I think Smoak got a legshot), so clearly both pitchers were just playing this s*** out in the least dangerous way possible. There was obviously no genuine intent for serious harm (even though that could have happened). The Blue Jays were itching for a fight against a team of baby big leaguers and got one, and then managed to lose two fairly key pieces as a side effect. If I weren't emotionally invested in their success I'd be rooting against them for the last week.

Is there a link on this? this is fantastic news.

Didn't it take like 6 months to properly diagnose his last shoulder problem? No immediately obvious structural damage doesn't mean he'll be ready to go any time soon. Hopefully he got a cortisone shot today and he'll be able to tough out the rest of the season while producing somewhere near his normal level. Ugh.

I think Smoak got it right on the back of the knee (feels like there's a proper name for that spot, which is not the back of the knee). That's sensitive as f*** and I bet he's sore as hell today. Severino is so s***** he can't even hit people properly. He has good control of the bean ball, but poor command (or vice versa - whatever).

Sore shoulder, day to day is what I'm seeing on the at bat app

Travis says he'll play tomorrow but every time he's hurt he says that doesn't he?

What a disaster that was. Lose two important guys over some dumb beanballing.

To be honest it looked like Smoak was going to hit someone with his bat when that happened.

It was so stupid. All because of a grazed elbow pad. We handed the game to them and all this a day before the most important series of the year. You think the Yankees are going to do everything they can to win those games against the Os coming up.. not anymore.

Why leave it until game 155 to do this. They should have done it when Tulo got hit in the hand, which was probably done on purpose.

Sore shoulder turned into a 8 month injury for Travis last time. Thank god its not torn.

Smoak's a really big guy, I randomly bumped into him when I was in Toronto for work. Of people I would not want to f*** with on the Jays Smoak's near the top of that list.

Looked to me like he was pissed at the umpire for letting him keep throwing bean balls at him but that he wasn't going to escalate it himself.

I just don't get why the umpires so often let things escalate to the point that everything gets so out of hand. I think it was dumb to retaliate when it wasn't intentional, but after Happ threw at Headley the first time, warnings could have been put in place there, as that one obviously was. That likely would have ended things. But they didn't, so fine, you f***ed up there. Then how do you not toss Severino after that first pitch to Smoak? What makes it even more strange is how he looked like he was about to eject him and then just didn't. So while this idiocy was started by the Jays, the umpires could have put a stop to it almost immediately, but obviously didn't. I'd like to hear why, but that isn't about to happen.

Because it was a birth defect causing the injury...not an injury a normal person can have. They already said the screws are finE and nothing is wrong with that aspect.

In the meantime can f***ing Carrera not bat leadoff?? Most important series of the year and without a pitch being thrown, the team is already at a disadvantage.

Whatever you're doing, keep doing it.

We live in a world where the Jays will probably make the playoffs and Zeke will be starting in the outfield. Never imagined that prior to the season.

Carrera could be one of those players that come out of nowhere and put up huge stretch and playoff numbers. This type of thing happens a lot with World Series bound teams.
