What, the SPs have pitched like AllStars for 2 weeks and we have won half the games because the offesne struggles to get 7 hits and 3 runs. Grilli blew it tonight but with 9 innings from the Yankees bullpen we should have more tha 6 hits or whatever it was. That just showed how flawed this team is. Pitch away from their power and we can't do anything.

 

They won last night with a bunt and a ground ball and had 7 runs on Friday before a home run.

Jays scored 5 runs, that should be good enough. Bullpen f***ed it up today. Sucks to see a great start from Happ go to waste. Good series though. Offense is looking a lot better this last week.

 

Just need 2/3 from the Os and then 1 from Boston. 3-3 for the final stretch should be good enough for the wildcard.

Bad loss tonight. Two games in a row with blown saves in the 9th. Possible injuries to Benoit and Travis thanks to some stupidity. Had the chance to put a stranglehold on the WC, now we could be heading to a Red Sox series tied with Baltimore who are likely to make cannon fodder of the Yankees in their own series

When you're winning going in to the 9th and the BP gives up 5 runs, I blame the bullpen. We should have done more against them sure, but Girardi didn't put in a long arm for us to beat up on either, he played his 1 inning selective pitchers which is often tough to beat. September baseball at its finest.

Lol. Go back and look at the runs the 2nd half of the year. It's like we score 10 runs once every 10-15 games and everyone thinks the offense is great. It's the worst part of this team that was suppose to be the best.

Girardi didon't manage. It was the 4th man in line. Did 3 coaches get ejected?. Grilli blew it but we shouldn't have been in that spot with an old bullpen getting lots of work in close games because the offense is a shadow of itself.

Girardi or not, it's just s***** September baseball that NY has been playing all month since the roster expansion. They don't do that move in July or August starting a series against Boston tomorrow.

Oh it does suck that's for sure. On to the next one. Hopefully we get to Baltimore early and often.

I complained about the offence as much as anyone in that stretch and you know it.

Can you try to come up with some new material every once in awhile?

 

I agree with this. It just annoys me so much how they approach certain situations and some hitters overall. I will try to limit it.

They have had a few good games but the same problem remains. I will agree to disagree about the current state.

I almost forgot Ceciliani was a September call up. It's only his second appearance of the month.

 

Yeah... I didn't think of him when considering possible pinch runners.

He's given up the home runs but since being a Jay he hasn't been as bad against them as season splits show. 4.17 xFIP, 14.54 K/9 vs LHH since being a Blue Jay. He walks a lot though and that's why he needs a clean inning. He's like Aaron Sanchez 2.0 with Ks which is an important difference.

The 8th inning and the 9th inning were such a contrast between how Gibbons COULD manage the bullpen and how he DOES manage it. In the 8th, with his usual 7th inning guy unavailable and his 8th inning guy pressed into closer duty, he actually used his guys SITUATIONALLY not just based on arbitrary inning designations. I was really hoping he wouldn't be so married to the Grilli as closer idea that he would do the same in the 9th but no... He pulled Cecil for no reason other than it was the 9th. Sigh....

I totally missed the second half of this because my girlfriend wanted to watch the presidential debate. Looks like Grilli had his first genuine shitshow. Sucks to have to happen now, but it happens. 3 out 4 from New York is great though if you look at it as a body of work. Detroit losing is huge too.

 

Baltimore series could decide everything here. Seriously huge.

I really hate how Cecil has been used. He has an awesome 4 year record save a couple of bad stretches.

 

No reason he could not of pitched to multiple batters. In fact I would of liked to see him come in to start the 8th.

I sort of watched both... surreal s*** show... Clinton and Trump barking, YES network guys going nuts... depressing...

 

kind of needed the Jays win to leave reaility last night. Clinton, Trump, future leader of free world.

Osuna - 9th

 

Cecil - maybe faces a lefty if something really goes wrong
