Everyone has had some drinks after dealing with girl problems, but it's too bad they had to get on the boat. It doesn't lessen the tragedy for me either way though.

I think tragedy is a great word here, personally I have a big thing against anyone who is under the influence of drinks/drugs and decides to operate a motorized vehicle, and just because he's a young ballplayer I liked, it doesn't make it any different. Regardless it is still very sad and a tragic event. But I'm glad they didn't take anyone else's lives out there

Of course someone would be trying to make a quick buck off this tragedy. f*** this world.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 I smell ********. Of course someone would be trying to make a quick buck off this tragedy. f*** this world. Agreed. No way were they drunk. Saturday night. Young guys partying. No way was there alcohol involved. GTFO! This is EXACTLY what everyone expected the outcome to be.

This is EXACTLY what everyone expected the outcome to be. Why did I get castrated for assuming Lester had been drinking after the NLCS celebration again?

What are you talking about? The next day we figured out that he had a fight with his girl and they went to a bar that night. You think he went to the bar and didn't drink? Come on man, we've seen stories like this happen before
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 There was a receipt for alcohol found in one of his friends pockets.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Why did I get castrated for assuming Lester had been drinking after the NLCS celebration again? You presented it as fact without providing any evidence. Nobody would care if you suspected he was drunk.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 People keep forgetting the other two dudes that died. Jose is now in the same territory as Taveras - scumbag territory
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 There was a receipt for alcohol found in one of his friends pockets. Still not enough proof. Jk
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 People keep forgetting the other two dudes that died. Jose is now in the same territory as Taveras - scumbag territory I wouldn't call him a scumbag, since all of them were probably drinking and nobody forced the other guys to get on the boat with him. But he is definitely an idiot.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 People keep forgetting the other two dudes that died. Jose is now in the same territory as Taveras - scumbag territory That's a pretty terrible conclusion based on a medical examiner's sense of smell as described by a journalist. I'm pretty sure there are dozens of stories that say he was extremely giving. Young and dumb doesn't mean scumbag.
Nabru Verified Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Was it ever confirmed who was driving the boat?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 People keep forgetting the other two dudes that died. Jose is now in the same territory as Taveras - scumbag territory This is absolute drivel.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Anyone who I talked to thought alcohol or drugs were involved. Seemed like an obvious first thought.
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Was it ever confirmed who was driving the boat? They have the toxicology results and likely other information but it hasn't been released to the public yet.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 They have the toxicology results and likely other information but it hasn't been released to the public yet. In other words, Jose was driving the boat and he was wasted.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 In other words, Jose was driving the boat and he was wasted. Or not...
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Regardless. It sounds like they were all likely drinking together... So all of them should've known that no one was in a good position to be driving. Totally avoidable tragedy. What a shame.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Or not... I read elsewhere that one guy he just met and the other has no boating experience. Plus, it's his boat.

Jose is now in the same territory as Taveras - scumbag territory Yeah scumbag isn't necessary here, lets relax a little bit. The guy was heavily involved in the ALS association among other charities, and gave back to many kids in the community by inviting them to hang out before every Sunday home game. He was one of the most generous players in the league. The guy was young and emotional and made a mistake, but to call him a scumbag is a joke. Hell texting and driving is worse than what he did, but I'm sure you're not about to call your friends and family scumbags.
Candide Verified Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 People keep forgetting the other two dudes that died. Jose is now in the same territory as Taveras - scumbag territory they made a mistake and paid for it with their lives - what more do you want? stupid, yes. tragic, yes. avoidable, sadly yes. doesn't make the guy a scumbag though.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 I read elsewhere that one guy he just met and the other has no boating experience. Plus, it's his boat. My point is wait for the truth, even then, who cares... they're all dead from a tragic accident that was easily avoidable. We can't bring any of it back.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 ^ this. I don't even know why we are still talking about this regardless of what happened. It is what it is. Such a shame. RIP. The end.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 People keep forgetting the other two dudes that died. Jose is now in the same territory as Taveras - scumbag territory Stop being an *******, we don't know who was driving and if the driver was drinking. Of course some of them were drinking, they were known to be at a bar. That doesn't mean we know the boat driver was drinking or that Jose was driving. For all we know they were being responsible and had the sober guy DDing the boat.
