Hi, long time Jays fan, coming to TO in September for the sox series, was wondering if you fine folks can tell me some good Hotels fairly close to the stadium to stay at?

From a quick search there appears to be very little available that weekend anywhere near the rogers center and nothing even close to $200... you might need to use AirBnB if you want something close and cheaper... you could find something in the condos around rogers center..

Just use hotels.com and narrow your search to the rogers center area. They are a ton around the RC, but you will be hard pressed to get one for 200 per.

If you are flying in from out of town the train from the airport stops at union station right across from the Fairmont Royal York and you can easily walk from there to hotels in the area and the RC.

Thanks, I am flying in from out of town, might have to commute a bit, that's fine. Thanks again. Any Restaurant recommendations?

hotels.com is boss.

I like that you can choose stars, price range and area really easily and if you travel a lot you get bonus night every 10th night.

if you prefer hotel, try holiday inn yorkdale. you can walk across to yorkdale mall and get on the subway, 20 minutes later you are at union station and take the skywalk to rogers centre..... plus yorkdale mall has some nice places to eat

edit - it is booked.....

We should pin one of our hotel and restaurant recommendations. Don't listen to the Swede, only go to Fran's if it is 3:00 am and you are hammered (I'm sure the breakfast is fine...but Frans has gone downhill over the past 20 years). 100% you should go the AirBnB route as I did a quick search and even the Strathcona is $370 a night. That's opening weekend of TIFF the city is going to be packed. If you want a nice restaurant that weekend you should book ahead. The bars and pubs should be crowded too but I'll provide you with a list if you let me know what kinds of places you like.

Wow, I once stayed at Strathcona as it was by far the best value near the stadium. But that was like 160 a night, not 370.

It sounds like you just chose the wrong weekend to go.

Last year i made a last minute trip during playoffs and there were literally 0 hotels available for less than $300-400 a night. I ended up staying at the Don Valley Hotel. It's a bit out of the way but if you're willing to take an Uber it's a pretty decent hotel.

I still get the CIBC rate at Novotel and have been getting $105 weekends (non busy ones). Much nicer hotel and great location. Strathcona was my poor weather not going home from work hotel, rooms are tiny but clean and weekday rates are great. Love the pub downstairs too, same people there that were there 20 years ago.

That's a nice hotel and right on the DVP. Plus hotels.com or trivago can find you a room for peanuts.

I was at Fran's for breakfast a few times last September and it was very good. Unless you don't like waffles or pancakes. then you might not want to go.

Man the Don Valley Hotel is situated in a nice place if you have a car rental or even if you want to take the TTC - I believe the 34 runs through there. Plus the science Center is like 5 minutes away! I used to pass by that hotel all the time, good area

Their eggs & sausage / home fries combos are the bomb. I'm still sad they closed the Barrie location and nothing has replaced it yet, the logo is still up after a year.

Your best bet is Priceline. I haven't been this year but in years past I always stayed at the Hilton for $80-90 and it was nice and walkable. You just pick the area and keep it at 4 stars and you can't go wrong. They have a site betterbidding.com that is a really valuable tool for savvy shoppers

Yet he bails on everything.

During an emergency a year ago we stayed at the Stay Inn on Evans and the start of the 427 for about 115 per night (it was very clean) and a decent breakfast was included. If interested the Toronto residents can probably tell you how to get from here to the Rogers Centre.
