No im saying I would be cautious in trading for him. It sounds like he would retire if he had a bad season. What if he gets injured or has trouble adjusting to AL pitching?

Sounds like an even better reason to trade for him. Whether or not he would follow through on that who knows, but not having to pay Joey Votto 25M in 2022 or whatever because he retired in 2021 after a subpar season would be ideal.

It WOULD be nice to have another left-handed bat in the lineup, but at what cost? If the Jays had to take on most, if not all, of Votto's salary and give up Sanchez, wouldn't the Reds have to throw in one of their young pitchers to sweeten the deal, like Finnegan or DeSclafani?
