Pricing looks like the same as last year, however the opportunity to buy tickets is more limited from the looks of it:

http://mlb.mlb.com/tor/ticketing/postseason_q_and_a.jsp

This Q&A stuck out in particular:

I also bought a 2016 Flex Pack. Do I qualify for access to purchase additional Postseason tickets?

Only 2016 Season Ticket Holders are guaranteed any right to purchase Postseason tickets. The Club may offer purchasers of 2016 Flex Packs with access to purchase 2016 Postseason tickets. If the Club chooses to do so, then you will be entitled to this access as well if you purchased a 2016 Flex Pack.

Last year season ticket holders got to purchase their seats plus another 2 seats, however there's no mention of the additional two. And it sounds like they aren't guaranteeing flex pack holders playoff ticket access. This will cause a ton of outrage if that's the case.

They've said from Day 1 that there was no guarantee Flex Pack holders would have access to playoff seats. Everybody who bought a flex pack this year was told that so if there is outrage the fans only have themselves to blame.

Q. Can I purchase additional seats?

No. Due to the significant increase in the number of Season Ticket Holders, we are not able to offer our Season Ticket Holders with the right to purchase additional Postseason seats.

Well it makes sense - there simply isn't a whole lot of seating to go around to guarantee extra 2 seats without eating into other flex pack holders

Yes if every season ticket holder bought 2 extra it would eat up tons of inventory. Last year not only did you get to buy 2 extra, but there was another round where you got to purchase additional seats. Believe the same happened for flex pack holders. I had something like 16 seats in total because they kept offering more, so I imagine in the end season ticket holders will have extra opportunities above their regular seats.

Can you save me some for these playoff then??

So if you had 2 season tickets last year - you were able to get 6 seats for each playoff game? I get rubbing the balls of the folks to shell out for seasons tickets, but I would assume in most cases, the people who can afford season tickets (who already have lots of cash) simply sell some of those tickets at twice face value so they get to go for free. In turn, all that does is stuff the pockets of our local scummy scalpers and the executives of Stub Hub....

Give the real fans a chance to buy tickets at a somewhat reasonable cost!

I had season tickets, group tickets and flex packs. So I had opportunities to buy postseason tickets from all 3 of those accounts.

Maybe only for Game 1 of the ALDS and Game 1 of the ALCS were going for twice face value last postseason. Otherwise, tickets were selling for much less then face value especially in the ALCS which was pretty disgusting, so I'm sure there were a lot of people who lost money.

The Rogers Centre holds close to 50K, so remember that. It isn't that difficult to get a ticket, even if you have to pay slightly more on a secondary market like StubHub, Vivid Seats etc.

Paying thousands of dollars up front for games that may or may not (and in fact, did not) happen was pretty stressful and annoying. I'm a Flex Pack holder, so I guess I'll be frozen out of the pre-market playoff tickets this year, but I really don't mind. I'd rather just buy a game or two on Stubhub, it's way less micromanagement on my part, not to mention up-front cash.

Agreed. It's a lot of money to put up front for the entire postseason, as well if you bought additional seats on top of that which I'm sure many season seat or flex pack holders did. It's funny how so many average people these days want to be like a scalper by purchasing up extra seats to major sporting events//concerts and trying to unload them to make a profit. Sometimes you can, though sometimes you can get screwed. I realized from last October and the Raptors playoffs that it's not worth the added stress to purchase extra seats and then trying to sell them afterwards. Dealing with idiots on Kijijji who expect to get everything for 50 cents on the dollar, or playing the waiting game on StubHub or Ticketmaster, and if those options don't work out then even calling around asking your friends or acquaintances if they want tickets for face value. Not worth the added stress in my opinion. I only made money off Game 1 of the ALDS which I sold for twice face value, and Game 3 of the ALCS where I made $50 more on each seat. The other games, I was lucky to get rid of my seats for face value but let me tell you it wasn't worth the aggravation. Same with the Raptors in the playoffs this spring: we bought like 1-2 extra pairs for the first two rounds and didn't make any profit at all. Ended up selling them to friends at face, but again not worth the aggravation in trying to unload 2-4 tickets every game. Additionally with Toronto teams usually getting awful time slots for playoff games (e.g. 1 PM or 4 PM Blue Jays games during the week; 12:30 PM games on a Saturday/Sunday for the Raptors), you can easily get screwed.

For the playoffs as a Raptor season ticket holder, they give you the option of paying on a game to game basis which is very convenient rather than paying all up front for every playoff series. Shocked the Blue Jays don't do that.

Well, it looks like pricing has not really gone up all that match from the 2015 post-season. The cheapest strip has only gone up $90.

I think the secondary market this year could be very different because you won't have people holding a high number of tickets to the same level.

Question, how many season ticket holders actually are there, 20K if that. The lowest attended game this year was 23,726 back in April as a point of reference.

They don't release those numbers, but the whisper number was 8-12k (wide range I know)

The one thing with last year that baffled me was the market for ALDS game 5 tickets right after they went down 0-2. I picked one up in the 500 level for $50-60, somewhere in there. I never understood why some people were lowering their price at that point for an if necessary game because one of two things were going to happen, the Jays loose on of the next two games at Texas thus get a full refund or have a hot ticket that people will want.

On the other hand I totally understand why the floor fallout on tickets for game five of the ALCS.

It just goes to show you that most of Toronto fans consist of bandwagoners. We're talking about a game in the ALCS, one series away from the World Series. It's disgusting how fans were able to write them off that series. You had Estrada going Game 5 who was money all postseason, and then had Price & Stroman available going Game 6 and 7 if it got that far. They still had a chance despite being down 3-1.

The Jays were screwed though for start times in the ALCS. Game 3 was played at 6 or 7PM I believe, though Game 4 was at 1PM the next day, and Game 5 was a 4PM start. I'm sure the start times did play a factor as well.

maybe we should hope for the Red Sox (or the longshot Yankees haha) to make the playoffs and be our opponent since it's our only chance of not getting s***** afternoon weekday starting times?

I don't know how you guys didn't make any money last year. Due to work I was only able to go to 1 game. I cleared $3,000 profit selling my other games on stubhub (2 100's and 2 500's). I think I only sold one game for a loss but I sold most of my ALDS tickets early before the game times were announced. One ALCS game I really had to call around trying to sell a pair of $225 tickets for face value.

Good thing they arent allowing STH to get more tickets, all they did last year is resell them to other fans for way inflated prices.

You're giving the general public far too much credit.

Same. I had a friend who had access and he brought me to 2 games and wouldn't let me pay him because he sold his other pair for so much that it didn't cost him a dime to attend any playoff game.

Id be suprised if it were that low after what happened last year with the playoff run and the ability to get post season tickets if purchasing 2016 season tickets

I had 100 level outfield seats. Went to 3 out of 6 games. Sold tickets for Game 5 ALDS, Game 3 ALCS, Game 5 ALCS.

ALDS tickets sold for like 3x face value, ALCS Game 3 was 2x face value, and I literally couldn't even sell my Game 5 tickets for face value. I ended up selling to a friend for face value.

So that's only 2 games I actually made a profit off of. I did a little bit better than breaking even.

There are some people out there who get trigger happy and panic when they miss out on getting tickets during the general sale, so good for you. As well, I find people who travel from out of town will buy tickets on StubHub weeks before an event to have that sense of security that they are attending that game/event.

All depends on when you sold them. If you sold them right after they sold out on the public on sale you probably made a good amount of money. If you waited until the day before you could have lost money.

Season Ticket prices are out for next year and I'm surprised they didn't go higher to be honest. Only complaint is that they have my STH renewal at the same time the playoff ticket balance is due and since I have 4 seats the total cost is a ridiculous 20 grand. And what ends up happening is even if the Jays make the playoffs they never end up playing the number of games you pay for anyway since they charge you for every possible game there could be.

Interesting that 500 Level tickets have a new price for the first few rows as does the 100 Level.

maybe they don't mind if many STHs are forced to pass on the "early bird" renewal price (given the big hit to their credit card in Sept or Oct.) ?

Don't the Blue Jays offer a payment plan if you renew? For example, with the Raptors payments are around $900 per month starting in April for my seats, and then the last two payments are around $450.

For postseason tickets, its ridiculous that they charge you for every game & every series up front. Shocked they don't do it on a pay-as-you-go, game-to-game basis like the Raps do. You'll get your money back on games not played, but sucks taking up a huge balance on your credit card.

payment plans are available, but they've had incentives to pay in full.
