jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I don't understand why everyone cares so much about the Hall of Fame. It's appalling that the best hitter of all time isn't even in the HOF.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 It's appalling that the best hitter of all time isn't even in the HOF. It's really strange. Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire were titans of the sport in their day. Some of the most famous athletes of any sport. Not Michael Jordan level but one notch below. Now they are just hitting coaches and they don't really seem all that revered at all. I went to some Rockies games this weekend when they played the Marlins and other than watching Ichiro get 3000 I was probably most excited to catch a glimpse of Bonds. But no one else cared at all about him.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 It's appalling that the best hitter of all time isn't even in the HOF. It's appalling because he bet against his team as a manager not a player. Having the Georgia Peach a wife beater, murder, and racist immortalized forever is fine though.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Yeah he was talking about Barry Bonds. Yea well Barry Bonds is the best hitter but I always automatically think of Pete Rose. My bad lol.

Having the Georgia Peach a wife beater, murder, and racist immortalized forever is fine though. Pete Rose isn't even close to being the best hitter of all time. Literally not even close. I totally understand why Rose hasn't been allowed into the hall, he's a grade A douchebag POS.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Pete Rose isn't even close to being the best hitter of all time. Literally not even close. Not but he's the "all time hit leader". I think Jonn just made an innocent mistake here. I doubt he seriously believes Rose > Bonds.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Not but he's the "all time hit leader". I think Jonn just made an innocent mistake here. I doubt he seriously believes Rose > Bonds. This. Pete Rose is just known as the guy with the title to the sentence. "The best hitter not in the hall of fame".
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 If you were trying to make an argument here, it's not very well thought out. 90%+ of big leaguers were taking steroids right along with Bonds and A-Rod. You really think Piazza was clean? Big Hurt? Ripken? If they played at any time prior to our current era, it's safe to assume that they were on something. Why wouldn't they be, these are the most competitive athletes in the world. Instead, we vilify the best and let everyone else slide. It sickens me. Same thing with Lance Armstrong, doping is rampant in cycling but he was the best so now he's the ultimate *******. Alex Rodriguez was probably the greatest shortstop of all time. I f***ing hate the way he's going out. IIRC in races where Armstrong finished Top 3, 27 of the 30 have been found guilty of doping lol. I think the problem I have with Alex is he's been such a superstar for so long and from such an early age that he doesn't even act human. I'm sure anybodys personality would be guarded and f***ed up if they went through the same thing.

Yes Cobb was out there alone as a racist playing in a sport that didn't allow blacks to play for another 30 years. I'd suggest the bio "terrible beauty" on Cobb . Stump , author of first modern bio, stole his things for profit and was just an all around jackass
wamco Verified Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Exactly this. Everybody was doing steroids in the 90s and early 2000s, and it wasn't really against the rules -steroids were on mlb banned substance rules since 1991 actually.

I was using him as an example.

He's been a star for so long he doesn't even know what it's like to be a normal person anymore. Kind of like Justin Beiber. But like Grant said Griffey was a star from a young age and he's not nearly the ******* that A-Rod is, as far as we can tell.
wamco Verified Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 A-Rod is a Legend. Steroids dont give you Baseball skills. There is no substance in the world that can make you good at Baseball. Its skillset you learn and develop. The only thing steroids can do is make you Gimme a break. Go look at Gary Mathews jr 06 season where he roided to an 866 ops and got a 5/50 guaranteed contracts. Or any other example of players stats going through the roof after using. No one is denying that you still have to lift to get strong and who wouldn't love to lift with the Resiults and progress you get. Seen it first hand lifting with friends on steroids

wamco Verified Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Lenny dykstra has a new book out as well. Interesting stuff. He said it was common knowledge to players that Pete was betting on the games including leaving his pitchers out too long as he picked the overs
wamco Verified Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Also calls strawberry's dick the soul pole.

wamco Verified Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 is it time to lock up Travis , Sanchez, osuna next year to buy out some Arby years?
wamco Verified Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 That is interesting but Lenny Dykstra is a piece of s*** as well so take anything he says with a grain of salt. U doubting the size of strawberrys dick ?
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Like Ken Griffey Jr, for example? *shrugs* You can find exceptions to every single situation on the planet.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 U doubting the size of strawberrys dick ? No probably not. He was a 6'6'' black dude.
