West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I multi-quoted this so I could finish reading through the read and then say that I hope it's Reese McGuire coming back. NO MORE DICKEY NO MORE THOLE WHEEEE Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 As they do in every market I wasn't localizing the issue. But the same fans who say "spend, it's not my money." And a few months later that extra $10 a ticket causes them to have a seizure is beyond ridiculous.
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 If they put Sanchez in the bullpen they are completely insane. If they replace him in the rotation with Liriano, we won't make the post-season. You read it here first. Get off the bandwagon quick then. Atkins says Sanchez will only starts one or two more games.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Which " fans " are you talking about? I went to 3 playoff games last year....it was worth it for me The tickets for the 2016 Reg. Season rose what 10% in some areas of the Rogers Centre and fans were going ape s***. If you're a baseball fan and want to go to that particular game or games you will pay the price. You won't complain.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Reese McGuire and Harold Ramirez were the #3 and #5 ranked prospects for the Pirates this year according to Fangraphs. Wow

specialiste Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I don't understand, the dynamic duo should have offered Hutchison and a prospect for Matt Moore. Not Hutchison for a starter who can't find the strike zone and a unpredictable prospect.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Id rather have hutch than liriano especially with liriano's price tag. He is leading the league in walks 5.5 BB/9 Nothing is more infuriating than guys who can't throw strikes. A f***ing >1.6 WHIP Save the 13 mil for someone who isnt s*** next year. Hutch would have done more this year than liriano. The prospect is obviously an important part of this but why not make this deal in the offseason. Here's the upcoming crop of FA SP. Name one that we would likely get AND you would feel comfortable paying 13m to. I don't see one. Brett Anderson Bronson Arroyo Brandon Beachy Andrew Cashner John Danks Jorge de la Rosa R.A. Dickey Scott Feldman Jaime Garcia Gio Gonzalez * Jeremy Guthrie Jason Hammel * Jeremy Hellickson Derek Holland * Daniel Hudson Edwin Jackson Cliff Lee Cory Luebke Kris Medlen * Matt Moore * Charlie Morton * Jon Niese * Ivan Nova Jake Peavy Edinson Volquez * Jered Weaver C.J. Wilson Travis Wood

In the media world pricing and costing should not a have a correlated relationship Pricing should be driven by market not what you have spent. Even if they only spend $50 mil on payroll they should still charge what the market is willing to pay. It is an independent analysis and to think otherwise is an incompetent viewpoint

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Well I liked this trade when I assumed the second prospect was a throw in, now I'm just thrilled. If we get any value at all out of Liriano it's just cherries on top.

We got two top ten prospects from an organization and top 100 prospects in all of baseball + an MLB starter that has had recent success despite a down year for Hutchison.

FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I bet against Liriano once in Vegas pretty big and he pitched a gem, f*** his streaky self. That is so crazy to read. I won $1,100 on him in Vegas. He made me very happy. He pitched a 2 hit shutout if I remember correctly. Same game?
