Yeah, it's fine. Certainly nothing to complain about. Gun to my head I probably take Benoit ROS, but it seems really close.

I'll say that, given that Storen has been DFA'd, I'd rather pay Benoit to pitch than pay Storen to sit on his couch.

How long has Benoit been garbage? I didn't like the cut of Storen, but if this is the consolation, I'm happy. Yesterday folk thought we weren't catching a whiff of a player. Smarten up ju1ced.

The Spanky scouting report right here.

The "cash considerations" the #Mariners are getting from Toronto covers the difference in salaries between Storen and Benoit.

I didn't like cutting him for nothing... turns out we acquired Benoit, bonus. Not hard, meat.

Called it!!! Great move we literally turned nothing (DFA) into something.

What scouting report? I'm pretty sure he means "cut" when Storen was DFA'd?

Dude, as we know, ju1ced has never been the sharpest tool in the box. He hasn't a clue.

Maybe he doesn't have a phone. Has to make the deals in person. Who do we play before the deadline?

I hear that Atkins likes to negotiate in person so that Shapiro can kick meetings off by flopping his giant balls out on the table and establishing dominance.

Exactly my thoughts. It's probably not true, but it always feels right to swap equal assets when they are struggling. That's why people like the trade more than anything.

Exactly, praising Shapiro for this is just silly. If this was AA everyone would be saying "Why the f*** do we keep picking up other teams' garbage?"

Are people really calling this a great move though?

Benoit's throwing as hard as he normally does and still striking guys out at a high clip, but he's obviously old as hell and no lock to improve. Storen lost 2 mph on his fastball and is giving up a s*** ton of hard contact. He could improve, but the warning signs are much greater with him.

It's a lateral move with some upside if Benoit's command comes back. That's a pretty reasonable assessment. No one is calling this a great trade. If anything is great about it, it's the fact that instead of paying Storen to Netflix and Chill with his wife, we are paying Benoit to hopefully rebound from his poor start.

You're talking to yourself man, the woodshed is out back.

Yeah. For me swapping Storen and Benoit is basically a coin flip, but in the context of Storen's DFA this is a pretty nifty decision.

Why do you guys forget like there's a postseason left to play??? This is a big move because lots of things suggest he should have more success in the coming months than Storen will. I don't think the guys like me are cheering for him because of the rest of the regular season, but we saw the post season is just a war of attrition, the better your BP the better the chance to win. If this guy becomes just a half decent guy we come out on top

Spanky, I have no idea what the f*** you're trying to say.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Seattle's front office is pretty astute, and they have their reasons for thinking Storen will be better. It's really just a challenge trade.

Yeah, me and Grant are always on the same page.

Spanky needs to take you out behind the woodshed, before it's too late.

lol @ this thread. Two ageing, struggling relief pitchers with identical salaries. Determining which one will be more valuable over the next 20 innings is pretty much the closest thing you get to a coin flip in baseball. Calling this a great move seems like a bit much.

It's a great move considering we thought we just ate Storen's salary for nothing and now we have another option who is still throwing hard and striking people out. I mean its something.

One negative aspect is that Gibby had quit using Storen but now he'll immediately throw Benoit in to high leverage situations just because he can.
