Left-hander Matt Moore is the likeliest Rays starter to end up on the move, team executives believe. Having posted a 4.33 ERA, 7.58 K/9 and 2.63 BB/9 through 116 1/3 innings, the 27-year-old is drawing interest from the Blue Jays, Dodgers, Royals, Red Sox, Orioles, Marlins and Rangers (notably, Rob Bradford of WEEI reported Saturday that the Rays aren’t open to dealing with division-rival Boston; the same might hold true with Baltimore and Toronto). Moore is reasonably priced via club options through 2019.

Ewww

yeah and the team options are not that cheap given how mediocre he is, 7,9 and 10 million through 2019. You really gotta believe he's on the verge of a breakthrough to gamble on him and actually give up a real piece for him.

I'd take Moore if the price isn't one of our top 5 prospects. His velocity is back up and he's having a decent year. The age and contract status are also nice.

Stroman is scheduled to pitch again in Phoenix against the Diamondbacks and I wonder who will be sitting without the DH. You would hope Edwin would start at 1st and Smoak would be sitting and then possibly come in as a pinch hitter late in the game and also take over defensively at 1st.

Are you in the wrong thread? Ofcourse that would happen.

With the off days, I was hoping he would be skipped in the rotation. I only mentioned it because someone posted an article that the Blue Jays were interested in starting pitching, but obviously not that much if Stroman is being used again instead of another option like Hutchison. With Smoak being resigned, I was hoping he wasn't going to become the regular first baseman when the team is playing against a national league opponent.

Smoak was re-signed for $4.125M per for two years. That doesn't pencil him in as the starting first baseman.

I would gladly take Moore. This is one of the classic guys who has all the stuff in the world but it just hasnt clicked yet. I dont know what it will take to line things up for him but you take a chance on that kind of guy every time you can. When he breaks out, which is eventual in my eyes, it will be hard and it will be fast.

Rob Bradford... lol. BS!

Here is a shocker, the blue jays are interested in any starting pitcher that can make them better for the right price. Matt Moore is not that guy. He is not the same pitcher.

If he comes for basically no prospects. Why not? I'm thinking they think they can clean up his mechanics

Why would that happen? Especially for a division rival.

They probably want a top 50 in baseball type of prospect.

It's funny when Rays pitching prospects that were coming up a couple of years ago e.g. Matt Moore, Jeremy Hellickson etc. had so much hype surrounding them, even during their first season. They never became anything special.

Not sure what they do to them in TB but their pitchers sure get hurt a lot.

Every time you have a major injury like that, you're more likely to not reach your potential.

TJS? Tell that to the other SP's that dominate this league.
