Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 What did he say. I was too upset to continue watching after the 3rd out Edit: He should probably be upset at himself for giving Stroman so much rope Just said 7 runs you should win the game... then said 2 out no one on and we give up runs... *shakes his head* said Stro and Brett didn't perform/do there job. That was between a lot of muttering, he's pissed, when he mutters, lol.

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I go off to work and somehow they lose this? Jesus f***ing christ. Go f*** yourself Stroman.
STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 At least they have another game in less than 12 hours.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Watched the game on PVR. First that umped really sucked and had about the quickest hook ever against the As. Stro got hit hard on those home runs, he left pitches over the plate on a tee for them. Seemed like Carerra could have caught that fly/liner that landed in front of him to start the inning. Cecil back to s***. Chavez was pretty studly.
BlueJays Verified Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Damn. I slept when they had the 4 run lead thinking it was enough. f***in Stroman
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Stroman gave up 4 fly balls. 3 went over the wall. Pretty s*** luck. I put a lot of credence in FIP and xFIP, but an arm that gives up as much contact with the exit V Stro does isn't just unlucky. Is it just back luck his HB/FB is 18% or is it the fact that they are hitting the ball so hard? The eye test location and stuff was just poor all round.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Chavez throws 14 pitches in 1.1 innings with 2 K's and he's taken out because the 7th inning is Cecil's inning. Stroman kept in to die because if he got through 5 innings he'd get a win. Once the game got tied, and the chance of a win was no longer there, the pitching change was made. I'm glad this was a West Coast game and I didn't have to watch the whole damn thing. Unless the Jays are blowing teams out, the managing is unbearable to watch. Old school managing needs to go away.
puphood Verified Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 The Jays had the benefit of some poor home plate calls last night and they didn't play like a contending team. I won't blame one player but Stroman had no command and his s***** attitude is back. It is time for this team to make some moves with pitching if they want to contend. .....

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Seriously. WTF is wrong with Cecil Ya, he was awful. not great FB location or V and no bite on the CB. Similar to start of yr.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Seriously. WTF is wrong with Cecil I feel bad for him. He might be costing himself close to 20M with this brutal season.

There were a few posters on the GDT thread who were calling for a short leash who usually don't panic on these things always calling for the hook. It was obvious that Stro just didn't have command and he had little in the tickle trunk to get swing and miss...even with 2 strikes. LHH were taking WAY too good a swings off of him, and frankly he was lucky to get some of the calls he did that Martin framed. Boxy posted his pitch chart in another thread. Wasn't pretty.

I've never understood Gibby's propensity to take out relievers that "got it going" on a particular day and have plenty of gas in the tank, and take the risk the next reliever doesn't "got it going". Personally, I think Gibby simply has low intellect.

Personally, I think Gibby simply has low intellect. I just don't think he has changed with the times over the past 5 or so years when it comes to bullpen usage. He still wants his starters going 7-8 innings and only brings in the pen after the starter blows up. I also suspect (though I don't know whreto go to confirm this) that the Jays pen arms don't have the platoon advantage as much as they should, though part if that has clearly been the fact that anyone who throws left handed has either been injured, awful, or both.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2016 Author Posted July 16, 2016 Jays4life19 come to Courtice so I can punch you in the mouth. Up 7-3 FFS. Both Boston and Baltimore won. f***! I'm so mad! I need to punch your face until I don't feel angry anymore. Haha I missed this, but this is awesome lol.

LHH were taking WAY too good a swings off of him, and frankly he was lucky to get some of the calls he did that Martin framed. I was one who was calling for the short leash in the third. Thing is, I don't really think Gibby's decision to leave him in was poor. Stro futzed his way through his last three innings, but then gave up hits (and runs) as he was almost through them. He was wild the whole night but he was still surviving -- and fairly efficiently... until he wasn't. Five of his ten hits allowed (including five runs) came with two outs in their respective innings. If I'm Gibby and see him get through two batters quickly, there is no reason to seriously worry that he can't get one more before the sky falls in. Unfortunately that's what seemed to happen each time. Stro wasn't good, but he was getting good results until he wasn't. Tough to justify pulling the trigger on a guy who isn't demonstrably imploding until it's too late.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Hopefully Rich Hill doesn't throat us today. A sweep would be embarrassing.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
