THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Massive overpay in-coming I'm guessing.

Holy s***! LOL we paid less for price. Obviously he has control but he's not worth that much is he??? Well that sets the tone for prices for starters Also we know Padres are willing to retool. Let's get Upton for cheap, we'll pick up his salary tab
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Henry Owens was scratched for his start too.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Pomeranz is good. Prospects are prospects

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 5:15pm: Lin tweets that the trade may be a one-for-one swap of Pomeranz and Espinoza. Hard to dislike this for Boston. 2.5 years if a good MLB arm for a pitcher in A-ball.

Pomeranz shoulder has blown in the past though, and it was barking in June, could very well blow again.

43211234 Verified Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Seems like a pretty reasonable deal. Espinoza could be a superstud and is very young but his results haven't been overwhelming or anything this year. This makes Boston better and they shed a pitching prospect, keeping the two position player prospect beasts they own.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 "Man, the Blue Jays look unbeatable. Better trade my best pitching prospect for a lefty that sits 91" - Dombrowski
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 How many times has a pitcher from the NL West succeeded in the AL East
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 This will be the true test of RA's theory.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 This will be the true test of RA's theory. lol Pomenranz averages 90. Pretty soon RA will throw faster than him.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 To me if this is the move the redsox are going to make we got off very easy. I'd honestly take Hutch over a guy who had to work his way on in spring training, throws 90, and is about to hit the mother load of divisions. I suppose he is better than Clay but not by much. Dumb Dumbrowski does it again.
vdartanian Verified Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I predict both teams lose this deal. Such a Padres move, dealing an player who is about to come into his own for a bag of magic beans. Pretty sure Pomeranz won't sustain his success in the ALE although maybe he'll pull an Estrada

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Pomeranz is pretty good. I don't get all the hate. He's still missing bats despite his velocity.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Pomeranz is pretty good. I don't get all the hate. He's still missing bats despite his velocity. He sits 91 on his 4sm. I'm not sure why people are bringing it up as a knock against him, especially from a lefty.

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Their rotation still looks like s***, especially if they make the playoffs.

Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 As a one for one deal I like this for both teams. I have no concerns about Pomeranz velocity as he's missing bats, I do have concerns about his shoulder and him not really being a starter recently.
