Laika Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 The Italian over Pompey was a good move. We need an 4th, not a starter OF So Zeke is a starter now? Should have called up Pompey to start.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 So Zeke is a starter now? Should have called up Pompey to start. It has to be about options, and Pompey not getting regular playing time. In Zeke they trust.

No, he was sent down prior to the reg. season. P.S. I can't believe the amount of my fine, and I can't fight it now, you only get 15 days???
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 All for a meaningless double in a 10-run blowout. Brutal. As soon as he started to run to catch the ball I said to my wife watch Beau is gonna get injured here and bango!

I'm pretty sure from the reading that I've done on this that Pompey has already burned his 2016 option. http://www.fangraphs.com/library/principles/contract-details/player-options/

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Probably the least deserving player of a callup. Hes been complete s*** all year. I suppose I don't want Pompey up unless he plays but still pretty ******** he wouldn't start everyday and Zeke would continue as the 4th OF.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 He hasn't played this season though. He was optioned in Spring. That still counts.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 He was optioned in Spring. That still counts. What?

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Deadpool is right It's been a while, thanks Grant!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 What? They already used his 2016 option. He doesn't need to play a major league game if he's already on the 40-man roster.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Deadpool is right He didn't play a single regular season game, he wasn't named to the 25 man, therefore no option burned.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Since nobody here was listening last night: Travis apparently rolled/sprained his ankle. That's why he wasn't playing yesterday and isn't playing today. Go back and watch footage of his homer, he was grimacing while rounding the bases.

That's not the way it works, unfortunately. Players on the 40 man and not the active roster are on optional assignment regardless of when they were assigned or how many MLB games they have played.

So what's the threshold for how many games played? Edit, no that can't be right. Editting the edit, yeah, you guys are right. 3 consecutive years, Gotcha!

I don't understand why Burns didn't come in if that was the case.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 So what's the threshold for how many games played? The only way a team could avoid using an option is putting him on the DL but they would have to activate him and option him at some point.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 So what's the threshold for how many games played? There isn't one. If you aren't on the major league roster for a single day then you used an option. It's why some guys like Albert Pujols still have options.
