GDT: Toronto Blue Jays @ Detroit Tigers (Game 2/3) Sanchez vs Boyd

Good point. If he did give Sanchez the hook after allowing a hit or before the 9th and Osuna game in and lost it everyone would be calling for Gibby's head.

With everything considered that was nearly an impossible game to lose and they somehow managed to do it. Still bummed out.

I had no problems with Gibbons' managing decisions this game. My only real complaint is that Osuna has been overused lately and should get some extended time off.

Bottom line though, the offense HAS to step up.

Yeah for sure.

Another aspect that I haven't seen mentioned is the bounce-back angle after getting humiliated by losing 11-0 while only managing to get 3 hits. Usually teams are determined to go out and be on their A-game after a beat down like that and you'd figure facing Matt Boyd would be the perfect medicine. He was pretty much asking for it with all of those walks. Disappointing.

But hey, that's the beauty of baseball: another game right around the corner tomorrow. Not gonna be an easy match-up against Zimmerman though. Hopefully Dickey's on his A- Game again.

Bluejays hitting sucked even last yr, no one believed me b/c of the numbers. Feast or famine approach everytime.

Gibby hitting Martin 4th should get him fired immediately. Could have hithit Barney, Smoak or Saunders 4th.

In February you would have been laughed at for suggesting that. Baseball is a crazy game. Nothing ever happens the way its suppose to. Martin was actually hitting pretty well recently. He tried something different to spark him and maybe the lineup. You have to try something. The batting order is the least of our problems. Its players hitting their pitches when they get them.

I will not blame Gibbons for that. Not allowing Osuna to start a fresh inning yes. I don't know what his obsession is with the complete game. You got 8 great innings out of Sanchez. Maybe go to your best reliever and don't give them another look at Sanchez. Its working out well for other teams.

Abolutely. There is no reason to have Sanchez out in the 9th. It's not 1992. Sanchez is not Jack Morris. I like Gibby but he needs to be fired or have be under strict supervision.

1. Sanchez had a great game, get him out on a positive note.

2. Sanchez is on an innings limit. Why stretch him?? Goal is to keep all his starts NON-STRESS

3. The latest data shows pitchers fare much worse deeper in the game.

23 year old under innings limit should be pulled after 8, after 90 pitches, after 5 if he's struggling... what is up with this crap?? Storen should be able to do the job.

Either Sanchez is not on an innings limit or he is but Gibbons don't give a F.

It would be nice if the front office and manager at least appeared to be on the same page.

Shanchez learned a Valuable lesson

Next time get 15 strike outs and get it done yourself! Lol kidding but...

This offense or lack of has cost us some

Very good starts and wins this year!

Estrada can feel Shanchez's pain!

Who ever thought we would say that we are really gonna miss his starts later on at the beginning of the year!

All Hail the New Ace! 😃

He is more likely on a pitch limit vs an innings limit due to his ability to throw more innings on less pitches than other pitchers.

Our 4 regular starters ( Happ, Sanchez, Stroman, Estrada) are ranked top 5,6,7,8 in the AL in least pitches per inning. I think there might be a bit of an organizational philosophy here. Or just a coincidence?

A lot to do with having a terrible bullpen. Also has to do with our starting pitching being pretty amazing. Going into the year our SP was one of the concerns, and it seems everything else is the concern. We're 2nd in the AL in ER, lowest WHIP, batting average, least home runs (even with most innings pitched), etc etc, that's going to get your starters deep into games. This team should be by far the best team in the AL right now.

Not really a coincidence. Happ, Stroman, and Sanchez are GB pitchers which decrease pitches per inning and except for Happ and Stroman in the last 2 weeks or so they have pitched great which will also decrease pitches per inning. Estrada is there because his changeup and ability to throw it whenever induces a lot more swings (pitches in the zone) but a ton of pop ups and easy fly balls.

Happ is a flyball pitcher...
