SSS with a .321/.352/.452 slash line and a whopping .373 BABIP in 88 PA says no, but he sure has been fun to watch, and, tonight, at least, he looked very legit at Short.

hes a great bench piece and because tulo/travis will likely never see the field together he can fill in and provide most likely 1-2WAR

Barney is an ideal bench player. Why did this thread need to happen. Can we not just enjoy s*** while it lasts. Nobody thinks Barney is going to hit like this all year.

 

He plays defense and has good at-bats. This all anyone can ask from him.

Yeah WAR is basically assumed to be fWAR. If you want to quote bWAR, you can't just say WAR without confusing people. In any case, I agree with his basic point. Barney is essentially the player Goins is trying to become. Might as well go with established Barney over proto Barney.

But theyre not so radically different that it's apples to oranges. bwar uses RA9 for pitchers rather than FIP and different defense and baserunning for hitters.
