Every Bison batter had at least one hit, and seven hitters had multi-hit games, with both clubs combining for 28 combined hits, and six errors. The Bisons led 8-0 in the second inning, but the Clippers slowly battled back against Buffalo, making it a one-run game in the seventh. Drew Hutchison allowed four earned runs on just three hits, all extra base hits. Though he allowed a season-high five walks, he earns his first win of not only the season, but in 15 career Triple-A starts. Casey Kotchman drilled a RBI double that scored Matt Dominguez to put Buffalo up 1-0 in the second inning. Junior Lake then connected for an opposite field two-run home run off Clippers' starter Jerret Grube, making it a 3-0 ballgame. Dalton Pompey made it 4-0, as he brought home Alexi Casilla with a RBI single. The Herd totaled five hits and two stolen bases in the second inning. The Bisons' continued their hot-hitting in the third, scoring four more runs on RBI singles by A.J. Jimenez, Alexi Casilla, Dalton Pompey, and Andy Burns. Grube's final line was two and 2/3 innings, nine hits and eight earned runs, as he falls to 0-2 on the season. The Herd scored two more runs in the fourth. Jesus Montero took reliever Toru Murata deep to lead off the inning, and Jimenez drove home Kotchman with a RBI double, increasing the Bisons' lead to 10-2. Tyler Naquin put the Clippers on the board with a two-run opposite field home run in the third, his first long ball of the season. Hutchison allowed a solo shot to Yandy Diaz in the fourth, and after walking two in the fifth, escaped the inning on a deep fly out to right field by Jesus Aguilar. In the bottom of the sixth, Yandy Diaz doubled and reached third on an error by right fielder Domonic Brown, which resulted in Chad Jenkins replacing Hutchison on the mound. Collin Cowgill drove home Diaz with a single, and Guillermo Quiroz doubled and reached third on another Buffalo error, as Cowgill scored to cut the Bisons' lead to 11-5. A nightmarish seventh inning for the Buffalo bullpen made it a one run game. 11 Clippers hitters came to the plate, scoring five runs in the inning. Three straight RBI doubles off Jenkins reduced the Bisons' lead to 11-9. With Patrick McCoy on the mound, Quiroz singled to left, and Cowgill came across to score on an error, making it a one-run game. Buffalo added two runs of insurance in the eighth, as with the bases loaded against Shawn Armstrong, two runs scored on a Junior Lake fielder's choice, and an error by second baseman Yhoxian Medina. Ben Rowan pitched two scoreless innings for the Bisons', earning his first save of the year. Buffalo has now won 14 of their last 19 games, improving to three games above .500. They are now just two games out of first place in the IL North. The Bisons now head to Toledo to take on the Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field. Scott Diamond will take the mound for the Herd on Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. He will be opposed by former Bison Daniel Norris. BISONS NOTES: The 13 runs scored by the Bisons are the most the team has scored in a game this season. They plated 10 runs in an April 23 win over the Rochester Red Wings. The 23 combined runs for both clubs is the most involving the Herd this season, besting the previous high of 20 runs in a 14-6 loss to Syracuse on May 5. Buffalo's Thursday win is their 15 road victory this season, which passes Louisville's total for most in the IL this year… Junior Lake continues his hot hitting, driving in three runs with a home run on Thursday. Lake has homered in his last two ballgames, and now has a hit in eight of his last ten games played… The 17 Bisons' hits becomes their new season-high, as the club also totaled 16 hits in an 8-1 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on April 20. http://i.imgur.com/gSNMOFu.png http://i.imgur.com/ai8I85q.png http://i.imgur.com/Dbq363r.png http://i.imgur.com/4mkKHaB.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/2/6/0/177178260/cuts/SantosGameStory2_zlskkktt_lzwhuqm8.jpg Luis Santos TRENTON - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats got within one out of avoiding a sweep but couldn't hang on, suffering a 2-1 walkoff loss to the Trenton Thunder on Thursday at ARM & HAMMER Park in Trenton. The Fisher Cats (20-25) got their only run on just six hits, but it looked as though it would stand up before a series of hits in the ninth wrecked the game for the visitors. The Thunder (26-19) completed the four-game sweep of New Hampshire, the first time the Fisher Cats have been swept in such fashion since July 23-26 of last year at Portland. New Hampshire opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning against Trenton starting pitcher Eric Ruth. Jon Berti led off with a base hit, and swiped second for his 19th steal of the year. Dwight Smith, Jr. was retired, but Matt Dean served a single into left field, and Berti raced home to score and give New Hampshire a 1-0 lead. From there, the Fisher Cats pitching staff looked to have things well in hand. Starting pitcher Luis Santos twirled six shutout innings, allowing just six hits and fanning eight. He handed off to Matt Dermody, who gave up just one hit in 1.1 innings and whiffed two batters. Murphy Smith took over with one out in the eighth inning, walking one and striking out one before departing with the 1-0 lead in hand. The Fisher Cats loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the ninth, but Jonathan Holder (W, 3-1) was able to strike out Christian Lopes to retire the side. Wil Browning (BS; L, 1-1) took over in the bottom of the ninth, and struck out Billy Fleming and Sebastian Valle to start the inning. But Jonathan Silva singled with two outs, as did Cito Culver, putting runners at first and second. Tyler Wade sliced a single up the middle, scoring Silva and moving Culver to third. Dustin Fowler took it from there, cracking Browning's first pitch to him into left field for an RBI single to win the game. It was the first time that Browning had allowed opponents to score since his first appearance on April 11. The Fisher Cats will try to shake off the sweep Friday night at home, with righty Jeremy Gabryszwski starting for New Hampshire against right-hander Ben Lively of the visiting Reading Fightin Phils. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m., and Bob Lipman has the call on the Fisher Cats Radio Network starting at 6:15 p.m. http://i.imgur.com/2VDMRBh.png http://i.imgur.com/TNjEFUu.png http://i.imgur.com/rxoS4RL.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/3/8/0/180467380/cuts/_15_Rowley_T43A7224_buxhb877_vpsurq6t.jpg Chris Rowley DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays (21-27) used six runs over the first two innings and a season high for any Jays' starter 7.1 frames from RHP Chris Rowley (W, 3-0) in their 8-3 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers (26-21) on Thursday night. After beginning the first inning with three straight singles on Wednesday, the Jays began Thursday's home half of the first with four knocks. RF Derrick Loveless, SS Richard Urena and 3B Jason Leblebijian each came home to score in the first two frames, giving Dunedin an early 6-0 lead for Rowley. CF Anthony Alford supplied a two-run single in the second inning, extending his hit streak to ten games. LF Jonathan Davis aided with another multi-hit game as well as three RBIs. The 6-0 lead was plenty for Rowley to work with who retired 15 of the first 17 batters he faced. Rowley allowed just five singles with a walk and six strikeouts. Four of the five hits came in the sixth inning where Lakeland plated two of their three runs. The Blue Jays jumped on RHP Endrys Briceno (L, 1-3) who lasted just five outs in his start and allowing all six of Dunedin's early runs. Loveless and 1B L.B Dantzler extended hitting streaks of their own to nine and eight respectively while 2B Dickie Joe Thon's came to an end at eight. Dunedin begins six straight games with the Daytona Tortugas on Friday. The first two will be in Dunedin followed by four in Daytona. RHP Francisco Rios goes up against LHP Seth Varner Friday night with first pitch at 6:30 pm. http://i.imgur.com/qVlKswP.png http://i.imgur.com/OJUGqEd.png http://i.imgur.com/S2opgRm.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/9/4/8/180469948/cuts/Reid_Foley_di2g81cq_9yhcfv18.jpg Sean Reid-Foley LANSING, Mich. - The Fort Wayne TinCaps (24-23) scored five runs in the final three innings, capped by a two-homer, three-run ninth, to hand the Lansing Lugnuts (24-21) a 5-3 loss on Thursday night at Cooley Law School Stadium. The late turnaround spoiled a career-high seven innings from 20-year-old Lugnuts right-hander Sean Reid-Foley, who added seven strikeouts and walked just one. Lansing built a 3-0 lead following two runs in the first - including a leadoff home run from Gunnar Heidt - and a solo tally in the fourth against Fort Wayne starter Thomas Dorminy, but the TinCaps chipped away. Jhonatan Pena's RBI fielder's choice in the seventh off Reid-Foley brought the 'Caps within 3-1, and Michael Gettys's home run in the eighth off Starlyn Suriel trimmed the deficit down to one run. Lugnuts closer Dusty Isaacs (Loss, 1-1) had only allowed one unearned run in 16 relief appearances - but that was dispatched in a hurry. Austin Allen led off the ninth with a rocket of a homer to right, and the Lugnuts' lead was gone. Two batters later, Ty France singled and Pena followed with a two-run homer, giving the 'Caps their first lead of the night. Fort Wayne reliever Phil Maton (Win, 1-1) recorded the final six outs of the game, including a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth. In the loss, the Lugnuts received multi-hit performances from both designated hitter Max Pentecost (2-for-4) and shortstop J.C. Cardenas (2-for-3). Next up, Lansing embarks on a seven-game road trip to South Bend and Dayton. The trip begins with a 7:35 p.m. Friday affair, with left-hander Tayler Saucedo (1-5, 5.26) taking on South Bend Cubs left-hander Ryan Kellogg (2-3, 4.83). Kings 3 Stars of the Night 1) Luis Santos: The 25 year old RHP continued to cruise through AA going 6 shutout innings with 8 strikeouts. 2) Casey Kotchman: Kotchman had an afternoon to remember Thursday going 3/3 with 2 doubles and a walk, as the Bison mashed their way to a 13 to 10 win. 3) Sean Reid-Foley: Pimp Foley had one of his best outings of the season so far going 7 innings deep while striking out 7 and only walking 1. Kings Platinum Arencibia 1) Chad Jenkins: Jenkins was terrible giving up 6 runs, 5 earned in 1 inning pitched. http://l2.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/QtaNpyY8.P7YwzIIYDYp2A--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3NfbGVnbztpbD1wbGFuZTtxPTc1O3c9NjAw/http://media.zenfs.com/en/person/Ysports/chad-jenkins-baseball-headshot-photo.jpg

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Pentecost isn't showing a lot of pop but the K% is a beauty and so is the BB%. Maybe he can get back on track. Would be amazing for the amount of time he has missed.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 but will he catch... that is the question.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 but will he catch... that is the question. This is true..... I am totally expecting him to be working at 1st before the end of the season but it is obvious they are just giving him as much time away from the field as he needs.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 yeah I'm sure they are just easing him back in for sure, but I wonder where he ends up. Reeeally hope its not 1st as that puts too much pressure on his bat (I can't see it playing).

No your right i think he was always a solid bat with not a whole lot of power if i remember correctly (15HR) in and around there and this was before the injuries.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I saw a group of people wearing BWK shirts at the game, was that you? No. But i saw the them too there was a lot of Brandon people there. Its a fun place to go.

If he can't stick at catcher maybe a super utility role could be in his future. As you said sticking him at first makes him really need to hit a ton.

bendera3 Verified Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 IIRC, they mentioned 2B, if he can't stick at C. How's his arm? Think it could play at 3rd too? If he's a guy who can't stick at catcher because of his health but is athletic enough to play various positions his bat and versatility would be a plus.

If he can't catch because of his throwing arm, I doubt he can play 3B. Who knows...?

bendera3 Verified Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Hatteberg, yeah sure, lol. Spelling isn't my strong point.
