nextyear Verified Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 What value would he have with less than 1 year of control in the same year that he sucks? Unless you can do a la Happ with him, he has no value in my opinion. Someone said Storen wasn't happy to be traded to Toronto; I am not sure if this is true or not, but in any case having an unmotivated player taking up a roster spot is bad for the team. The value is having him off the team, recovering some of his contract, and freeing up a spot for a pitcher in the Blue Jays organization that will be grateful to be on the team.
Statman Verified Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 If it was possible that Phil Kessel and Casey Janssen could have a kid, it would look like Drew Storen. Storens decline is eery to that of Francisco Cordero and Kevin Gregg when they were playing for the Jays as well.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 his performance has more to do with the nature of the relief pitcher beast and less (or nil) to do with 'feelings'
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 his performance has more to do with the nature of the relief pitcher beast and less (or nil) to do with 'feelings' I am not sure what this means, but Storen is not helping the team and if the Blue Jays are trying to trade him then they know that he isn't good for the team now and probably won't be going forward.

RP are volatile is what it means. Large performance variations month to month, year to year. Trying to attribute his performance to "he doesn't want to be here" is bogus
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 What ever the reason for Drew Storen being ineffective, if the Blue Jays can trade him to free up a roster spot and recover some of his salary for 2016, they should do it. The Blue Jays found Biagini, so there is always a chance of finding another useful pitcher if a roster spot is open.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Agreed, with Loup returning and Sanchez slated to be moved to the 'pen Shultz is also off the DL now, quite possible that he provides more value than some of the relievers have (so far).
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Agreed, with Loup returning and Sanchez slated to be moved to the 'pen I heard talk on AM 590 (The Fan) about Sanchez moving to the bullpen possibly as soon as June; apparently Sanchez is on an innings limit for the season as a starter. I think this would be a game changer for the Blue Jays - then they would have a dominate bullpen with Biagini, Sanchez and Osuna. If Cecil returns to the form he showed in the 2nd half of 2015 then the Blue Jays would be a legitimate contender. The Blue Jays have Floyd and Chavez to take over Sanchez's spot. It will be a downgrade at Sanchez's starting pitching position, but with a strong bullpen that spot only needs to get them to the 5th or 6th inning.

I figure Sanchez is in the rotation until the AS break.... he will have amassed roughly 110 IP, with another ~to come from the bullpen in the 2nd half for 150 on the season Just too bad Jays may have to add a B prospect for someone to take on Storen
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 Storen is probably pissed off be lost the closer gig in a contract year. Now he's sulking like a little baby.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Storen is probably pissed off be lost the closer gig in a contract year. Now he's sulking like a little baby. Well, that's a stupid theory. So he purposely sucks so he'll get an even smaller payday?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Well, that's a stupid theory. So he purposely sucks so he'll get an even smaller payday? Agreed. But on the other hand we know there are some real morons out there in the sporting world.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Well, that's a stupid theory. So he purposely sucks so he'll get an even smaller payday? Of course it's a silly theory but the guy proved he was a headcase with things like that in 2015, so who knows?
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I don't think that Storen is it intentionally underperforming but his poor results aren't helping his confidence.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Could we even hope to get back an arm out of options that maybe could be a mid relief guy or is even that to much to ask for?
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Could we even hope to get back an arm out of options that maybe could be a mid relief guy or is even that to much to ask for? Probably not. Unless the other team plans on slotting Storen into the late game mix, you'd have to think that middle relief option is more valuable than a guy who looks like a $6M mop-up pitcher.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Alanta in a package and for salary relief might... The are out of it and in next year country already! You know I have a trade in the works Stay tuned? 😃
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Ok this might require more then one move and two teams and two trades to complete this all ya'll ! But the monies work and in the end we add about half a mill to payroll Provided money is not required to go either way! " Can I Play with Madness" Wink wink say no more! Lol
Cyborg Verified Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I don't think that Storen is it intentionally underperforming but his poor results aren't helping his confidence. His xFIP is great. Depends on your definition of results.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 His xFIP is great. Depends on your definition of results. He's giving up a ton of hard contact (44%) and almost no soft contact (10%). I don't know how that factors in to his numbers though but he's getting hit hard.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Ok here goes! Ready or not here I come! Cyborg get ready to crunch the numbers. Thanks Team one Trade one! To Kc, Dickey, Thole, EE, Chavez and Storen From Kc Kendry morales, Luke Hochevar, Danny Duff and Andrew Edwards
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Team two trade two! To Atlanta Pillar, Goins,Burns,Jimenez Santos,Cecil, loup and one of or maybe both pimp foley and Greene From Atlanta nick markakis, Eric aybar, AJ pierzynski and Hunter Cervenka!
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 This add more then the half mill then I thought at first, sits about 2.6 mill add to payroll. Had hutch in the altlanta deal at first! Would still add him or Alford to either to get it done or money as long as it stays under 8-10 mill add to payroll ! Might even be willing to use 1-2 mill as a bonus payment to EE if he accepts the Trade!
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Lot there to Digest even for the cyborg But even if we have to we can ask one or both of aybar and morales to be sent to the minors or just DFA them! Lol
