Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Yesterday was the final straw for me with Storen. Cecil and Storen should not be given any opportunities anymore if its a close game. They only get to pitch if its a loss or a blowout. Bullpen depth right now should be: Osuna Chavez Floyd Biagini Storen Cecil Girodo
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 TBH I'd be more worried if the SP had been the problem so far.

But it's time to drop him down in the pecking order for sure. Edited May 9, 2016 by G-Snarls
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 He's 0.0 fWAR and 0.2 bWAR. I understand your point but... it's not quite accurate and he's projected to provide 2.2 going forward. His BABIP is .183 so if you believe Colabello was a luckbox, you can't deny Troy's numbers will move to the mean. Yeah but his LD% is a measly 7.9%. He's not squaring anything up so his BABIP is probably right where it should be. His performance to date is incredibly alarming.

But there comes a time when enough is enough and you tell them to f*** off because they are bleeding runs and blowing games every other day. Time to give the other guys a chance

Seen enough since last year to think it's not something that will come around much. I watched some utube of his Rockie's ABS and its crazy. He looks like the exact same swing. He was a line drive machine and using the whole field. Now he rarely gets on top of a ball and his pitch selection is so odd. I think he is a guy who was used to success....went through a major hip labrum surgery and has not made the necessary swing/stance adjustments to compensate (if it's possible).

What's crazy is that he's only 31 and it's not like he's a washed up old man yet (even though his injury list might suggest otherwise)... how bad is it going to get when he's 35 and still a Jay? You're probably right, I mean after that surgery it's a pretty stark difference. I wish we could have just a half season of the real Tulo at this point, is it possible he's playing with a hidden injury or muscle pain still?

He is so talented I think he eventually will figure it out and make adjustments. Votto took a long time after his knee to get his pop back. But at least with him he never lost his line drive and eye. Is it just me or does it look like he is taking or missing/fouling strikes and swinging at a lot of balls endlessly? He seems to be behind the count in almost every AB lol.

Yeah there's reason to think that because of the injury, this is actually his nadir and he will come back stronger at the end of the deal (the Votto injury and contract situations are similar). That being said, Votto maintained his plate discipline and a certain kind of consistency through the recovery. Tulo is clearly slumping AND recovering from the injury which is compounding things.

We're now 14 months into his return from the surgery. It's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he'll be fine. There are a lot of miles on that body, and a lot of very major injuries. He's only 31, but physically he's probably a lot worse than your typical 31 year old.

That's fair and the bar of expectation definitely has to be lowered from what it might have been when he was first acquired but I'd be shocked if there wasn't some kind of bounce back.
