Atkins needs to get this roster deeper and help for the pen immediately

Hutch clears option waivers tomorrow and someone else will be called up. not sure who...

Another game thrown away.

Jays much better than record indicates.

No they're not.

Bullpen is s***. And bullpen is a big part of a team. If it sucks, and they've blown 6 7th inning leads, then your record is right where it belongs.

wow.... Stroman lets that ball go by in the 7th the inning is over and the jays win this game. still could have won if Cecil could get 1 out.

tough loss that should have been a win.

This is really the main fail tonight. Cecil and Floyd needed six batters to get one out.

Bullpen stinks but everyone said we'd have a sweet one so still holding out for it

It comes down to Cecil and Storen pitching like last year and defining roles better for Chavez and Floyd. Also actually using Bigani and Vendetti

Venditte needs to be sent down. He's not even a MLB reliever at this point.

Atkins needs to f***in do something

No. Venditte is a great LOOGY. Just shouldnt face righties unless its a bridge righty to another tough lefty.

Another thing from this game is that Goins hit with a runner on base and two outs in the 7th. Then Barney and Zeke hit down by one in the 8th. (Thole not an option to pinch hit for with Martin unavailable.)

I'll give Gibby the benefit of the doubt and say he didn't put Smoak in their to pinch hit is because he had a two man bench with Hutch still being up with the team and Martin unavailable. That one is on Atkins/Shapiro for not making the Hutch move in time.

FTfy

Venditte sucks

Gibby deserves this. That's 2 times taking him out before 100 pitches and a big lead. Both blow by the bullpen tonight and bad managing the first time. 1 out is all they needed. Great game by Stroman. Bullpen is terrible and not used properly that's the problem

Of course Gibby deserves blame, as do Cecil and Floyd, but Stroman's pitching to contact crap allowed Gibby to think about that decision in the 1st place. If Stroman is the strikeout guy he was in the MiLB and 2014, maybe he doesn't get BABIP'd and Gibby considers that Stroman might get a strikeout to get out of it.

It's all hypothetical but Stroman's pitch to contact crap failed him once again.

Well he's been a complete waste of a roster spot so far. He can't face any righties at all and isn't good enough vs Lefties.

this was explained during game tonight. Hutch has to clear option waivers because of length of service and that is done tomorrow at 1pm. until then they won't send him down. If another team makes a move they will have to keep him up or lose him. it's just one of those weird roster rules.

You are overrating this "pitch to contact" thing. He just simply hasn't been as good. His fastball command has struggled at times and his breaking ball has been inconsistent.

He's not going to turn into Kershaw by throwing more 4 seams.

Cecil with a bit of bad luck on the weak ground ball up the middle from Eaton.

I though doubling up on a fastball on the 0-1 pitch to Frazier was a mistake.

All on Gibbons, too conventional, taking out the starter because it is the 7th and you have to go the BP after the 7th. Our BP sucks, so let starters go deeper even finish the game like it used to be

Agree here. But the next four batters needed to be retired.

And thus the value of a K is still obvious.

I see well that's a dumb rule. It's taking a little less than 48 hours to make the move then and cost us the ability to pinch hit late in the game with Smoak.

Oh come on, it was not on Gibbons tonight. Cecil and Floyd had like 6 chances to get one out and they couldn't f***ing do it because they were both trash tonight.

not the first time they blow it, at this point I do not trust them, I prefer to stick with the starting pitcher

Stroman had lost it, was coming up against the top of the order again, and just got dinged on a comebacker. BP was the right move. They just didn't execute.
