He's probably been taking something for a long time now, and whatever he was using to mask didn't work this time for some reason.

Or whoever he was using them to mask didn't get their $$

It's 80 games. Not a lifetime ban, nor a debilitating injury nor cancer. No need to cry about it on TV like your life is over. He'll be in Buffalo in July trying to earn back a roster spot where he would have been anyways after being DFA'd.

The "I would never, ever compromise the integrity of the game" really came off to me as "I would never, ever compromise the integrity of the game...any more than anyone else would". Upset that he got caught.

His comment "I won't rest....." did sound a lot to me like OJ " I won't rest until I find the real killers".

The irony of everyone pretending that this is a tragic career ender is that for this to be true, his career must have been close to over anyway. An 80-game suspension isn't ending the career of a player who actually belongs in the majors.

The response from both him and the media has been absolutely pathetic and cringe-worthy.

As long as he doesn't throw teammates under the bus if his sadness turns to jealous rage or a marketing ploy a la Canseco. Though that would be incredibly, incredibly stupid if he did.

Any detective could have watched that interview and told you he's a damn liar, it's written all over his microexpressions. Lynch him!

He looked just as sad as he always does, no difference there. lol He's always had that permanent look of anguish down to a science.

That's easy to understand when you know deep down you're a fraud.

I'm watching this extended interview and he SOUNDS like he's crying but there has not actually been a single tear. This guy is a f***in operator.

The crying you heard was probably Gibbons somewhere in the background.

I actually think it was Jamie Campbell wincing as the sun hit him through the window.

It's called empathy.

It doesn't apply in this case, unless you think the way they do, which I certainly don't when someone made the choice of cheating.

It would be kinda funny if Smoak slipped some steroids into Colabello's protein shake while he was in the shower. Something like that really isn't that inconceivable.

I don't feel sorry for him and I fully understand why he did it. 32 year old journeyman needs everything at his disposal to maintain a mlb job. His major league career is probably done but hopefully he made enough friends where he'll get a coaching job at the major league level.

I still don't understand why he got his dog tested. Incase they shared the same batch of tainted dog food?

He tells a story about his new dog, Clutch, a jet black French bulldog puppy he got in the offseason. Clutch got sick this winter and went on a variety of medications. Colabello had all of them analyzed to see if that was where the metabolite originated. He had Clutch’s blood and urine tested as well.

“I’ve sent every piece of medication and anything that was different in my life in. I’ve tried to examine or identify whether it was a hand cream, a toothpaste, a shampoo,” Colabello says. “I’ve looked into my mom’s medications for her health issues that she’s had over the last year. The extent to which I’ve gone to try to identify this is beyond bewildering.”

He's just trying to find the source. If he's telling the truth - I don't think this is too far fetched.

The real question is, do they drug test while you are suspended? Because he would be an idiot not to take something if they don't!

A liar will go to extremes to have others believe him. Some believe their own lies.

Calling his dog Clutch is the most egregious thing Colabello has done in the last few months.

So you can't have empathy for someone who did something you disagree with? What are you, a sociopath?

Wow, talk about not getting the point.

Sorry, that joke lost its edge after the first 40 times. I know, I know...25 pages. But if you click on any random previous page chances are you'll see it mentioned three times.

You said empathy doesn't apply. Why the hell not? You object to basic human decency.

It's not nearly as tired as the 'Zeke found Cola's stash joke.

Not for the Cola case, he brought it all on himself by his poor choice. His fake tears are not affecting me. There are many truthful/honest situations when I will feel empathy, this one isn't one of them.

Yeah. This doesn't reflect poorly at all on Colabello as a person. He's 32 years old, and gave up getting an education as well as ~13 years of experience in the job market. Every week he was able to cling to an MLB job is about 20K in income, for a guy with very little in career earnings relatively speaking, and likely bleak job prospects after retiring from baseball. A lot of people passing judgment would have done everything they could to maximize the amount of time spent on an MLB roster.

How exactly does his dog's medicine get into his bloodstream? Someone with a dog please explain. I see no logical way unless he was ingesting himself?

Perhaps he likes the band.

Why would the fake that he brought it on himself exclude empathy? You've never found yourself in a bad situation of your own creation?

Seriously, we're talking about the Cola situation here, nothing else. Why is it so hard for you to understand that someone will not feel empathy in this case? That's really the question you should be asking yourself.

Just seems really douchy is all. Bizarrely so.
