Havent read this thread yet, looking forward to all the comments about how its a PUD (performance UN-enhancing drug)

Prepare for a lengthy discussion about Jackie Redmond instead.

Zaun has first hand knowledge of using lol

As much as I believe most players are using, Zaun's link in the Mitchell Report was pretty flimsy.

Colabello's suspension is effective immediately. He's eligible to return July 23rd, assuming no rainouts. Just awful. #Bluejays #Jays

I'm shocked. He's a great story, really like him as a person. Never thought this would happen. #Bluejays #Jays

Colabello has always seemed to me a good, bright, well-intentioned, confident guy. His statement is about same as every other cheat caught.

Ok guys, the sentiment is appreciated but I think a lot of people are overreacting with sadness. Here's what I think will go down. He'll serve out his suspension then get DFA'd. No one else will touch him and he'll get his chance to work his way back onto the 25-man in Buffalo. If he makes it, he makes it. If he doesn't, he doesn't.

With the way he was going, his time here was doomed anyways. Rather than wallow in purgatory forever which is where he was headed, the suspension means he hits rock bottom right away with this being day one of his chance to refocus and rebound.

We all know Colabello was aided by BABIP last year but I can imagine it would extremely difficult to perform when you know you're going to be suspended.

If he ever plays a game for us again I will be shocked.

BABIP doesn't give you 15 HR in half a season worth of PA. People seem to forget this.

Did I miss why it's 80 not 50??

First failed steroid test is 80 games. It's in the mlb drug policy

Failure to comply with treatment program

First failure to comply: 15 to 25 day suspension and/or a fine of up to $10,000

Second failure to comply: 25 to 50 day suspension and/or a fine of up to $25,000

Third failure to comply: 50 to 75 day suspension and/or a fine of up to $50,000

Fourth failure to comply: minimum one year suspension and/or a fine of up to $100,000

Any subsequent failure(s) to comply: The level of the discipline will be determined by the Office of the Commissioner, consistent with the concept of progressive discipline.

All suspensions are without pay.

Positive steroid test results

First positive test result: 80 game suspension

Second positive test result: 162 game suspension (the entire season, including the postseason)

Third positive test result: lifetime ban from MLB

Players who test positive for either their first or second tests are given the option to appeal, in which scientific tests will be conducted to prove validity of test. Within that period of time, they are restricted from participation in all baseball activity. If an appeal is granted, the suspension may be reduced by 40 games for the first offense or 80 games for the second offense. There is no appeal for a third offense. All suspensions are without pay. In addition, a suspended player can be replaced on the active roster by another player. If a player is on the disabled list, the suspension is served while on the disabled list. Unless a suspension is reduced on appeal, a suspended player is not allowed to participate in that year's post-season even if his suspension ends before then.

Players who receive a lifetime ban after a third positive test may apply for reinstatement after one year and be eligible to be reinstated after two years.

Conviction for use of prohibited substances

First offense: 15 to 30 day suspension and/or a fine of up to $10,000

Second offense: 30 to 90 day suspension and/or a fine of up to $50,000

Third offense: minimum one year suspension and/or a fine of up to $100,000

Fourth offense: minimum two year suspension

Any subsequent offense(s): The level of the discipline will be determined by the Office of the Commissioner, consistent with the concept of progressive discipline.

All suspensions are without pay.

I get a strong lesbian vibe from Bierness. Are we sure she even likes dong? I guess it doesn't matter.

The loss of salary will hurt, 80 days is a huge chunk of his paycheck.

I like to think when she was having none of my best lines that she is. But she mentions her boyfriend every 3rd sentence.

It's like you guys are f***ing with me. It was always 50

Changed in the last bargaining agreement. MLB is 80 and MiLB is 50.

Wow. So easy for this f*** to pass judgment when all he has to do for his job is be less stupid than the hockey fans who call his show, and sometimes he can't even get that right. Cringy pbp guy, brags about touring around America while eating at the same s***** Chinese food chain. Surely this guy is the one who can pass judgment on a fringy player who clearly had no other choice if he wanted to stay relevant.

It's like people can't empathize at all because they are so caught up in acting offended.

Zaun made a pretty good point that the substance has a fairly short shelf life in the body, so the fact that Cola showed up to ST with it in his system suggests he either took something without knowing (stupid) or got something else that was "tainted" (s***** break). I mean, it's always possible that Cola just took it and come what may, but the other possibilities make it tough to just call him a cheat at this point.

And this is just me, but even if he did cheat (and yeah, cheating sucks), it's pretty understandable. The big leagues are pretty f***in' cutthroat if you're not a core guy. I wouldn't want to find a real job if I grew up dreaming about baseball. It's one thing for A-Rod and Braun to do it (scummy), but a guy who may as well be living paycheck-to-paycheck... a bit more understandable.
