bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Generally I would agree but Tulo already pointed out being a mental midget to batting leadoff. I'd go Against RHP Saunders Bautista Donaldson Encarnacion Smoak Martin Tulo Pillar Goins Pillar goins back to back is aids
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 ugh Pompey hasn't proven anything at a major league level other than he can pinch run. I don't like Cola either but damn I think are hands are pretty tied between him and Smoak platooning. At least Pompey is only 23 years old, has very limited MLB playing time, and could prove to be an above-average outfielder. We already know exactly what Cola and Smoak are.

Well by that definition, anyone who is not an MLB regular already should not be given a chance because they haven't "proven anything". And its not like Pompey failed miserably or anything, his 88 MLB wRC+ over 150 PA's is identical to Pillar's career 87 wRC+. Steamer projects him to be a below average bat (92 wRC+) but there's reasons to believe he'll be a positive contributor with his defence, more than two useless f***s we have right now taking up 2 roster spots and between them don't have a single skill that we can consistently rely on.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Look, you already have the prologue for your (fiction) novel done. You want me to let you know when your stance has changed? I'm not positive but if your an author of novels you should have the capacity to tell yourself when your own opinion has changed. I have no idea what you're talking about, and your "joke" about a novel is neither funny or sensical. I'm quoting something I actually wrote, and stating an opinion that I haven't changed since. I think he's a good player, but given his age and injury history, a decline wouldn't surprise me. What the f***ing hell are you babbling about?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 How about being a little more aggressive? Jays are too busy trying to get deep counts to try to get walks.. and they're paying for it. I'd like to see a few more hits. Pitching's not really a issue.. it's been serviceable. But the offense needs some work.. how about actually trying to hit bad pitches for once? It's not just us BTW--Mets are going through similar issues. Pitching well, but haven't hit yet.. Could be worse--we could be the Red Sox. Hitting well--but the pitching is absolute garbage! Not even Price or Kimbrel can douse this tire fire in the rotation and the bullpen.. 7 games in, Boston has the worst pitching staff in the AL AGAIN. Tonight's game, which Buchholz and co. served up 9 runs to the O's (who are now a f***ing 7-0!)--shows Boston's rotation is awful after Price.. but even Price is having struggles.

My only issue is the Mets are built around pitching. We are built around hitting and are not hitting.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 when the f*** is travis coming back anyways? one of the sportsnet guys said he might not be back for the season???
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Remember the good ol days...like when we were 2-0 Argh!! Tough one tonight. Got to get the Offense rolling and stop the f***ing E's. Cost us another run tonight. Get em' tomorrow.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Time to move Cecil out of high leverage situations for a game or two until he sorts this garbage out.

I generally ignore your posts but I actually agree with you here. Jays could swing at a few more first pitch fastballs. Seems like there have been more than a few times where the Jays are "taking" even if its a meatball centre cut.

Governator Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 There's nothing concerning velocity wise and he's missing bats, looks like poor BABIP luck. I think he's getting in to hitters counts quite a bit. He's missing his spots with his curve and not fooling many. When he gets in to 3-2 counts and 3-1 counts he's stuck with giving them a hitable pitch. Zaun explained it like his curveball looks like a ball as he releases it making it easy to lay off.

nmrch Verified Member Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 4 pitch walk is bad luck? he's not allowed to walk anyone now? That was his first walk of the season, the fact that it was a 4 pitch walk isn't that important.

I will give you his injury history, but he's 31 and has a career wRC+ of 122 there dip s***. That's what I'm talking about. Now get to f***ing work on your piece of s*** novel
