BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Seems that way. But his mind is probably more on family right now than in the game, apparently his pregnant wife had a fall a few days ago. Think everything is okay, but probably rattled and on his mind. His breaking ball doesn't have the bite it did 2nd half 2015 yet. V on his FB is down a tad. Just not sharp. I don't know if it's personal reasons. Last year he had a rough start too, but he was hurt in spring training.

It's tough to accept, but coming out of ST isn't a lightswitch straight into mid-season form. Lots of kinks to work out in April still, even though the games all count.

He was so dominant 2nd half last year we probably have unrealistic expectations. We need him badly to get it rolling.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Also, questions on Storen's velocity really need to be raised.
Jim_Ackers_balls Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 What a rotten bullpen this team has.
intrigid Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 TBH this loss really didn't hit hard at all. Not sure why. Just seems like the Jays scored 7, the other team scored 8, and it's one game and that's all there is to it.

Most of us disagree.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 hahah chill kids, jays are five games in, I think this BP will be just fine.

It's baseball dude, that's the nature of the game. There will probably be some games where we tee off for 5 runs in the 1st inning off a guy like Price or Kluber. It happens.

The amount of luck involved in baseball is starting to irk me to be honest...
nextyear Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 It is just a matter of time before Russel Martin starts to hit but I hope it will be soon. It is very early in the season but so far Russel Martin has 8 strikeouts in 16 at bats. If Russel had a .250 batting average, he would have 3 more hits and quite likely the Blue Jays would have at least one more win as a result, considering the close games that they have lost.
KinofChaos Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 The amount of luck involved in baseball is starting to irk me to be honest... You know your right, baseball can be a very frustrating sport. Jays could easily be 5-0 right now with slightly better luck.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 The amount of luck involved in baseball is starting to irk me to be honest... Is there any way to measure luck? I'd be curious to see where teams rank in terms of perceived luck.... And not even that, I'd be curious to see if there are players that are luckier than others.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Last night I learned the new age shifts are eliminating the athletism of defenders. I learned that nobody had to tell Cal Ripken where to stand because he's psychic and knew where the ball was going. Shulman an must have been thinking "f*** me, 31 more games with these morons". We really need a thread to record all the stupid these *******s say.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 .babip would be one measure no? Ya. I mean an all encompassing, s*** goes wrong kind of stat...just not hitting, but baserunning, s*****/unfortunate calls, balls being called strikes (and vice versa for pitchers), high leverage situations being blown....just a nice number that takes everything into account and tells if a player is a rabbits tail or a black cat.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I also learned George Bell was a very patient hitter. career 5% BB%. Thanks Buck.

It makes you shake your head. these guys played the game at the highest level. So one should assume they have incredible insight we all don't have on the game. But we hear these hollow empty statements with endless angel food cake platitudes. Is it that they just feel the need to fill airtime?
Tuco Verified Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 It's crazy how much Tulowitzki's hitting has declined. He looks like a .240, 15 HR guy who strikes out a ton going forward.

Is it that they just feel the need to fill airtime? Someone asked me if Buck was calling the game last night with Shulman doing color commentary. I watched the game last night and again this morning (with my 5 yr old who had to go to bed last night and asked to watch it this morning...so cute and awesome) and for the love of god I'm still not sure who was doing what....there was so much gibberish and ******** being said that I eventually muted it.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Dunno what you're on about. Dan called every single play. Sorry. Listening to Buck and Tabby puts me in a bad mood. Because they are stupid. I thought the old setup was Buck called he game and Shulman did the color commentary. This prevented Buck from spreading his nonsense opinions. Why the F wouldn't they use that setup?

He looked pretty good in spring training...hope he goes on a hot streak and shakes the monkey off his back.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Powerful line up today. 6-9 is AAA material, Carrera batting sixth. Lol..

Then it was Dan and Pat in 2001. Putting a voice like Dan at color would be absolutely retarded. That would be like Arizon's GM telling Zack Greinke he's the new closer.
