Ktrp Verified Member Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 If we are up by say 3 runs after 6 or 7 tomorrow but Sanchez pitch count was up, would it make any sense for stroman to pitch? If he closes out the last couple innings and we win, everyone gets to rest. I haven't run all the odds but I would feel much more comfortable having stroman hold a lead then counting on our banged up bullpen. Tied game I wouldn't I guess but if we are up my gut is that -might- be the right move.

Welcome, I don't think its a terrible idea, especially if we wanted to get some work for stroman before the ALCS started cause its possible the Indians Redsox series goes the distance leaving him to not of thrown a pitch since the wild card game. However, I don't think it Will happen, Gibbons is a traditionalist and will be closing that game 3 up with the bullpen that got him here.

I myself would still prefer to use the pen and have Stro ready for game four if needed.

No playing around, we go for the kill. Plus if we waste Stroman and end up losing the game then we are forced to draw Estrada on short rest... also it's not good to keep taking a starter back and forth from the Rotation and the pen. Besides if we win tomorrow we won't have a game until like Friday right? Plenty of rest to reset the fatigue of the starters and relievers.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 It's not happening, suggesting it is asinine. So if we lost, you go to Estrada on 3 days rest, what the hell is our bullpen for, cheerleaders?! K....
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 News flash: Liriano out Barnes in due to concussion. Not sure if this is the 7 day DL and he'll be back for the CS or if he's out for that too

Not sure if this is the 7 day DL and he'll be back for the CS or if he's out for that too That means Liriano's out for the LCS... f***. At least they called up the right pitcher.

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 That means Liriano's out for the LCS... f***. At least they called up the right pitcher. Apparently it doesn't actually mean he's out of LCS. There's a new clause for concussions, he can literally be out for 1 game until MLB clears him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 nope!!! Concussion protocols says otherwise You learn something new everyday.

How the hell does the MLB have a better concussion protocol than football lol

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 I'd rather not see another one of the Jays' relievers unavailable so f*** that.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 I'd rather not see another one of the Jays' relievers unavailable so f*** that. Exactly. There's no need for that's kind of crap to be initiated or even retaliated if they throw it first. It's garbage baseball

SAAviour Verified Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 A 3 game sweep with Odor dong nothing to help his team is perfect revenge for me. No fastball to the back needed.

canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 You have to hit Odor in the back...but not now...next year sometime and they will Gibbons is old school
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 You have to hit Odor in the back...but not now...next year sometime and they will Gibbons is old school At some point, someone has to let it go. You can just keep going back and forth with the retaliation ad infinitum. Beat the Rangers tomorrow. Expose their fluky W-L record for what it is and move on. The loss will hurt them even more this time because they won't have a perceived slight upon which to focus their frustration. They'll have to look in the mirror this time.

We need to pimp a home run though if it's late in the game and we're up, if they're going to get swept after all they drama they've done this year they need to learn to take the "disrespectful antics" from us and shut it lol
Mkdaman1818 Verified Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Pimp the win, don't do anything until we get the W. Texas is still in this series just like we were last year.

Texas will have nothing to say but the Blue Jays are better. If they choose to plunk us than things will explode again.
VE2OH Verified Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 I didn't even realize Pompey was left off. I'd think he'd be more valuable than someone like Feldman. What is Feldman's role? Mop up man if they're getting blown out? The same with Goins vs Smoke. Goins can play all infield positions, Smoke only 1b fairly well. Now with Travis out what happens if JD comes up lame or TuLo gets hurt. Don't tell me Smoke is a better hitter, defence still matters.....

They figured we're not going to lose more than one infielder and Gibby likes having his pinch hitters. Also, if you're in a position where you need to replace two infielders, chances are the game is done anyway.
