burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Board-Broken. I'm actually pretty excited for this. Funny that Stroman was the first person to tweet it out before any of the insiders.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Richard Griffin The #BlueJays decision to option Drew Hutchison to Buffalo inevitable. Won't be happy, but needs to be ace for Bisons and chance will come.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Author Posted March 28, 2016 I'm really interested to see how Floyd pitches in the pen and how the blue jays use him. I really like the look of the pen having Floyd, Biagini (assuming he makes it) and Chavez all being able to throw multiple innings.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 f*** yeah. kid deserves a chance. next year, Osuna!

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 John Lott Sanchez starts, but not for whole season. Will have a workload limit, back to pen later. Gibbons deliberately imprecise on that point. Barry Davis The #bluejays won't confirm where Sanchez will fit in rotation but I'm hearing he'll start 3rd game in TB
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Has AS gotten better? Probably
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Author Posted March 28, 2016 Piggyback Sanchez-Floyd, and Happ-Chavez The way I would do it is have a much shorter leash on all non-Stroman starters. I would think about always saving 1 of Osuna, Cecil and Storen each night so you don't have to have those guys pitch as many back to back games. Floyd could be a really good reliever.

Blue Jays turf is slower than the Rays one and TB will put more LHH in the lineup. Also Happ is less likely to give up a HR at the Trop than RC. Edit: Didn't realize the Dickey effect. Makes more sense now as he would get the advantage in future starts.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I'm fine with this. He pitched well enough in the Spring to get another shot. If all fails hes back in the pen. We have depth and insurance options.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Maybe Sanchez' last chance. Next year is Osuna time to start Osuna keeps saying he doesn't want to start which is beyond bizarre. I just hope they name Storen closer.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 when was the last time the Jays had this much depth throughout the club for major league spots? It feels really good going into the season knowing we are not ONE injury away from disaster.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Why does everyone listen to Gibbons? First Valencia gets DFA'ed for him, and now they f*** over Floyd instead of using Sanchez's options to the team's advantage. Could have let Floyd's arm fall off as a SP before putting him the pen/replacing him with Sanchez later on. Maybe Floyd can be our Joe Blanton now.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 What? Mark Shapiro's dad, Ron, operates a sports management agency that includes Gavin Floyd.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Mark Shapiro's dad, Ron, operates a sports management agency that includes Gavin Floyd. So wouldn't having Floyd start be better? Go write a book.
KinofChaos Verified Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Can't blame the Jays for this, he has looked pretty good the spring, deserves a shot.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 So wouldn't having Floyd start be better? Go write a book. Floyd hasn't been an effective starter in a long time, is old, and has had his elbow shatter twice. I'm not sure why you think he can be an effective starter. Let alone, the guy is a FA and we have no reason to have any goodwill towards him. I will make sure to source you in my footnotes.
