Decent stuff from Floyd. If he doesn't make rotation he will probably be great in the pen. Our pen has so many options this year.

Agree. I think it looks like this come opening day:

Storen

Cecil

Osuna

Biagini

Chavez

Floyd

Choate/Venditte

It really seems like you want him to fail to justify your prediction that he's a terrible starter......maybe it's just me but that vibe comes from many on this site

Sanchez tossed 6 straight balls right after Jim posted this "Wow, threw it right where martin was set up..... thats command folks!". I was just messing with Jim.

I don't want Sanchez to fail as a starter and never predicted he would. I thought he pitched great today, hopefully something we see continue into the regular season.

Pretty much sums it up. Clowns on here think they're baseball gurus because the analytics say so. Some people just can't accept that it's not always as simple as that. Notice the other f***ing genius' are nowhere to be found.

Standing by my prediction Sanchez 3+ WAR

That would be great. It's great that we are arguing about a bunch of decent options rather than talking about how many games Redmond will have to start or whether Francis will be our mid innings LHP.

Well the huge, giant, enormous problem is taking advanced stats as an absolute stone-cold predictor of the future for a guy with such little experience and obvious tools.

Analytics don't foresee skill changes. Like when the godfather of analytics traded years of Dee Gordon not anticipating that Gordon would optimize his batted ball profile to perfectly match his speed. For example, his advanced stats will spit out a number in 2013 that encompasses his 21% infield fly rate. But in 2015 he moves that number to 3% so he underwent a huge skill change that numbers could not have foreseen.

Gordon went to 60% GB rate with no pop-ups and 80 grade speed. Automatic .300+ avg and .340 OBP.

There are examples all over baseball of skill changes that make guys dramatically better. But numbers will literally never anticipate skill changes.

People who bash analytics really need to understand what they are, not what they think them to be. They aren't meant to be absolute predictors. Anyone who feels thye are being presented as such is basically choosing not to understand.

BEsides, quoting a 100 PA sample size from 2013 as proof of anything is pretty foolhardy.

What you just said should be applied to the supporters of analytics who use them as absolutes.

Sanchez today:

8.0% SwStr (meh, MLB starter average is 9.3%)

77.7% GB% (elite)

With how the blue jays are constructed that would be great. Donaldson, Tulo and Goins on the jays turf with that many groundballs is going to bring great results. Like I said if he can cut down on the walks he doesn't need strikeouts to be very good.

It would be awesome if statistics could foretell the future. Bye bye world problems.

A thousand times regulars on here have pointed to Sanchez minor league stats and proclaim 'he suxxx', 'trade him while he still has value'. Just f***ing dumb.

You don't get to call them wrong about Sanchez until they are actually, y'know, wrong

I've always said that sanchez may not reach his potential or even become a viable starter. What I have said is he is 21 (or 22, or 23) with an elite arm and there is plenty of time for him to reach his potential.

Some on here want to get rid of him and put him in the bullpen and leave him there. That is wrong.

At what point will there not be plenty of time? We need to establish some parameters here.

if he hasn't established himself as a regular MLB starter by the 2018 season, safe to say he never will

More questions I have after reading this thread:

-Is Hazel into anal?

-If so, do you think Aaron gave her a dirty Sanchez?

All women love anal, those that don't just haven't tried it yet

I can say the same with donkey. A friend of mine told me that.
