At the risk of being a pedantic butthole, I wouldn't call it average. They did a decent job complementing a squad that has fewer cracks than most other teams, and they did it without sacrificing too much of anything.

It was average in the sense that no huge names got thrown around, but in context I'd say most things were pretty well considered and well handled. This is the benefit of having such a strong starting point, I guess.

Hey when people tell me i am a mediocre lover i fist pump....lol

That's a department in which I continually strive for mediocrity. Any better than that and expectations become too high.

mediocre means .500

neither good or bad

good offseason would have liked to see some good prospects coming this way... everyone talks about Donaldson trade last season, but the trade for the prospect Travis potentially the more significant one long term

The definition of mediocre according to Google is "of only moderate quality; not very good."

Average is "of the usual or ordinary standard, level, or quantity." Although the definition of average also includes mediocre.

So I suppose the terms can be interchangeable.

And the thread shall derail in to a language debate. LOL

You're doing it all wrong. Blow their minds one time then never call them again. Leave on a high note, like Costanza(/Anthopoulos?).

I went with good over mediocre but my feeling is somewhere between the two. I didn't really feel strongly about any moves that were made but I feel like they were good and this team will contend. Favourite moves were the Floyd signing and just the general move to acquire decent depth pieces.

I've been with Mrs. BTS for like 7 years. I'm doing it perfectly cromulently, and that's OK.

RIP sorry to hear that

Do you guys still have sex ever? I get bored of anybody after like a year, I'm destined to die alone.

Mediocre = C grade = average

That's my interpretation of mediocre and of how the off-season went. My thoughts have pretty much already been stated. Love the Happ signing. Estrada's was ok and necessary. Hendriks-Chavez makes no sense considering the SP depth is a lot greater than the BP depth although the FO might not have planned it that way at the time. I do not like the Revere-Storen deal. I understand that the Jays wanted to deal from a position of "strength" (which we are much less sure of now thanks to the recent attempted OF dumpster diving), but I think they could have gotten a lesser-known, cheaper reliever and use the cash savings to add another piece.

Nothing else in that list is unexpected or really noteworthy.

Ya sometimes. The thought of going on a date at this point is absolutely terrible to me. It's not like straight men can just turn on the grindr machine.

Thought it was mediocre/average.

Liked:

Happ signing

Pitching depth

FO/player development hires (even if it's not player aquasition related this my favourite Shapiro move this offseason)

Disliked:

Chavez trade

Smoak signing

Estrada signing (dislike might be too strong, I just would have used the money differently)

I pretty much hate dates even though I'm good at them. Grindr is so sleazy, it's about 90% old gross daddies and weirdo asians (no offence, Boxy) propositioning you sight unseen. I prefer Tinder. Do you co-habitate? You must after all that time. That's the real obstacle, being able to tolerate living with someone. If you can do that, you might as well get hitched.

Actually, no we don't. We both like our free time and space. It works. /BTS blog

How millenial of you. I can't really picture myself living with someone/seeing them more than 3x per week. I'm antisocial by nature.

I finally found someone that I LOVE living with and can't get enough of being around. It's pretty f'n sweet really.

I'm not sure there's anyone on the planet that I'd want around 24/7. I can't imagine sitting in my living room while someone watches, like, Big Bang Theory or reality TV or something and not wanting to destroy them.

Well, mine barely even watches TV. She likes heavy metal, horror movies and porn, so that helps.

Same, except I voted for mediocre then wondered if I should have went for good. I like the Happ move.
