harvey16 Verified Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I would say 4/90 or 5/100 would be the max I'd give up. If he wants more then that let him walk and take the draft pick! Ideally I'd prefer a 3 year contract by that will never happen. Someone is gonna be paying big dollars for a 40 year old declining slugger and I sure hope it ain't the Jays.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 5/100 seems like a pretty fair compromise if he maintains his current level of play through the season.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Basically the same contracts you've stated, but even then I'd rather explore other things first (like EE/JD extensions). I like the odds of Bautista's demands falling quite a bit this year though. He's super old so he'll probably get hurt once or twice, maybe hit a bit worse, maybe look even more like a DH/1B.

closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 5/110 with a team opt out in the 5th would be my max. I would say a guaranteed contract of 90+ 30 mil in incentives if that is even workable but I cant see he would agree to that.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Be interesting what people would do for EE/JD extensions today.

Whatever the qualifying offer is. Sign Edwin to a contract similar to Russ Martin money.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 10 years/$120 For the mathematically challenged, that's $12M a year for 10 years Keep him around as a PR guy
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 4/90. Don't want 5 years even if he stays at current production level this season. More annually should be the only alternative.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Loaded question, I'd do a 4/80 with a team option, or he can walk. The man is 36. Move on to EE if he doesn't like it..

GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 5/114 for Bautista 4/75 for Edwin if I had to choose one, Bautista depends on what we could get back i guess
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I'd give Bautista 4/100. Don't want that 5th year at all. The problem with getting a deal done with either one of them before the offseason is that it basically signals to the other that they're gone. Not exactly the most the type of air you want floating around the clubhouse. Shapiro is really in a sticky spot.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Try to win in 2016. If we dont the team will have to start over in the off season anyways
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 EE at 5/90 Book it. JB walks.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 More term or money than 4/100 and I'd start worrying.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I don't think I'd give Edwin more than 3/60. It seems low but I believe he isn't going to age well at all.
